Yes I know how it works.

And yes I am still right. It is a mettle spring it will get weaker over time due to use... Even spring steel will weeken over time that is all fact.

I am just offering some possible insight to why it would not seat all the way on an older used thermostat any maybe it is the resone some people do not experience failures and some do.

Ha, so I didn't bother seeing how one comes apart as I just got a plug for a couple $. But one retaining ring and the whole thing comes apart and yet people are hacking them up instead?

I have a feeling that if that motor failed due to anything related to the thermostat...it was from oil contamination from cutting it apart.

I completely gutted mine so it was just the copper cap and that is it. Works great.

And i agree just cutting it is a bad idea. Anything that can leave mettle contaminates is a bad idea.

Just making sure you know how it works. From the way you worded it, it sounded like it was operated with just the springs itself expanding and contracting.

Omg. This thread so old but I can not believe that Buschur believed eliminatating the thermo valve can cause crank walk. Dave it was 100% coincidence that you had issue that that motor following your modification of the thermo valve. Please get a factory oil filter housing and trace the path of the oil flow. You will see that it is impossible to lose oil pressure by taking out the spring and valve and causing crank walk. I think the motor was already failing and you just happened to be the last person that touched it. It happens all the time. The last guy always get blame.

I don't post a lot on here but I read a lot of the posts. This is one of those posts that make me questioned well known shops and their knowledge of 4g63t.

These pictures shows the thermo valve before and after boiled in water. You got to be crazy to not chop that springs out when plugging the oil cooler lines.

I spun bearings two weeks ago. This is my second failure in three mothns. I think my oil cooler its dirty. Read other post, if you flush the oil cooler its not safe for using again. So I decide delete my oil cooler. My question is: How many people on this thred delete their oil cooler?

Im a littlevery confuse, but I understand that you need ONLY delete the oil cooler (with lines) right? Without touch the thermostat right?
