Can I use this transmission Fluid?

I have a evo 8, changed clutch, so new fluid must be put in.

I only found and put in mobil1 75-90W to later find it is a gl5 oil. So I want to flush it and put new oil.

But I cannot find any gl4 75-90w oil locally (south america)

Closest thing is this motul gear 75-90w, specs says gl4/gl5, and in the application search it is listed for evolution, is it safe?

https://www.motul.com/ve/en/products...%5Brange%5D=25

or should I order from the US, spend more, pay international shipping etc.

I don't want to ruin my transmission

thanks for your reply

Yes, I use it in my car and cars I work on. There is also a LS version of the same oil for ACD.

No! GL4/5 is not the same as GL4. It may damage your transmission.

TRE recommends Motul Gear 300 75w90, not that. So I'll assume you shouldn't run it. Other rec's are Redline mt90, redline MT90ns, and amsoil MTG

http://www.teamrip.com/manual_transm...tion_info.html

And definitely DO NOT put an form of limited slip oil or additive in your transmission, it will kill the synchro's.

There appears to be some confusion here.

Both GL4 and GL5 75w-90 oils are fine for the transmission, but they must contain no limited slip friction modifiers to be suitable.

The transfer case requires a GL5 hypoid gear oil, such as 75w-85, 75W-90, or 80w-140 for severe duty.

The rear diff carries the same requirement as the transfer case.

^+2 Listen to both of these cool cats.

I've used OEM Amsoil and now recently been using the Motul fluid. After having an extensive conversation with Jon@TRE I was convinced to give it a try and I've been quite pleased with it so far. Just be sure to use the one without LS additives as they said. It should be part # 100118

How do I know which ones do not have LS additives?

If the mobil 1 one is OK, then I won't change fluids.

The only motul I can find is not the 300 version, it is the standard 75W-90 oil I posted.

In the USA, the Mobil 1 oil you used is named "75w-90 LS". LS = Limited Slip, which means this oil contains a friction modifier to make limited slip differentials quiet. This is ok for LSDs, but not a good idea for your transmission, because it is too slippery for the synchronizers to function properly.

Is the Mobil1 product you used the same as the one sold in the USA? They may be different. You will need to read the label or go to the Mobil 1 website, select your country, and read the product information for your region. I advise doing the same thing at the Motul website. The product descriptions on the website tell you clearly if the oil is intended for synchronized transmissions.

u dog u said u use oem!

I'm probably going to give motul or redline a shot once my OEM supply is depleted. Why is it again that we aren't supposed to use LS additives? I think he said something along the lines of it makes the part actually not do it's job (ie lock up?) i'll trade some lockup for a little quiet I have too much lol. my rear diff still bangs and shakes the car at parking lot speeds
