Question Boost lag?

well about 2 days ago i noticed that when i hit it full throttle in 3rd at about 5,000 rpms my rpm level goes down to 4,500 and then climbs back up normally. do any of you know out there what this could be or if it has happend to you? if it was my clutch i think it would happen on all gears but it ONLY happens in 3rd. and it just goes to 5 and back to 4,500. it wierd. maybe the synchros? Any help would be greatly appriciated. thanks

Alex, sounds like a boost leak, not lag. Lag is when you start in 1st gear and wait till the turbo spools. That area of no power before boost is the lag. Check all your hose clamps and around the BOV. Maybe the BOV is not holding.

A slipping clutch would mean the RPMs are climbing and you are not accelerating to keep up with the RPMs. You are having the opposite problem with the revs falling. Keep an eye on your boost gauge to see if you losing boost or not boosting as high. Don't know what else it could be

Have someone help you get to all your hose clamps and tighten them all doen. Mine were loose. I couldn't believe how many turns I had to make with the rachet. If your problem continues, since you are mostly stock, bring it in to service.
