10.5 vs IX turbo- accuator different?

I picked up a IX cold side housing I am planning to swap onto my evo 8.5 turbo (10.5 hot side)

I know i need a new j pipe and oil lines to put the new cover on.

Do i need a new WGA as well?

You'll need the 9 actuator. And a 9 compressor wheel..

If you do end up needing one I have the OEM one from my car where I recently moved into a Red.

I'm pretty sure the compressor wheel is different seeing as how the 9 turbo flows more...

From this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...8-5-turbo.html

Compressor wheels and turbine wheels are the same on the VIII and the IX turbos. The IX has an improved compressor cover(housing).

An 8.5 turbo is essentially your VIII turbo fitted with a 10.5cm turbine housing instead of the 9.8 turbine housing. That is the only difference. So, to convert your VIII turbo into an 8.5 turbo just pick up a 10.5cm turbine housing and swap turbine housings.

The IX turbo has the same compressor wheel and the same turbine wheel as your VIII turbo does. The IX turbo's compressor cover is an improved design compared to the VIII compressor cover.

it may be differently shaped because of the larger compressor housing on the 9 turbo
