2.3 Stroker help need opinions!

Hey guys, So it looks like after all these years of wanting to have a fast evo, the wait is about to be over. I say about because it is going to be a project and I am just getting started. The turbo going on my car will be a DBB FP red with the older MHI housing.

I want to build my motor, and I want a 2.3 liter, so i need some opinions

I know for a 2.3 liter you need a 4g64 crank. So I am going to purchase the Manely forged race series 4g64 crank.

Rods: I am looking to buy Manely I beam turbo tuff rods

as far as the pistons go, I want to go with 9.5:1 pistons instead of the 8.5 because the car will have a dual tune (very safe 91 octane tune for road trips or just in case of emergency) and a mild/agressive e85 tune.

so my question for you fellow evo owners/engine builders is, do I need to buy the wiesco 1400 hd 2.3 stroker pistons? or just the wiesco 1400 hd regular 2.0 pistons? I am very confused even tho it makes sense to buy the 2.3 pistons i just wanna make sure im making the right decision, thanks guys

You need the 2.3 pistons with the compression height that accounts for the added stroke. The 2.0L pistons won't work. Good luck with the build.

The 2.0l pistons work on the 2.0 and 2.4 builds. The 2.3l pistons move the wrist pin up 6mm. They might do some other changes due the pin change, but that's the primary difference.

I didn't want to convolute the topic, but 2.0L pistons made for 156mm rods will work on a 2.3L, though they bump up the compression a bit.

I would look around about the crank too. It seems most 2.3l guys, including myself run the oem 100mm crank. A lot of builders recommend the oem crank as well. Its something to look into..

Use the HD 2.3 stroker pistons in 9:1 comp, get the eagle crank over the manley (Manley's have a higher tendency to crack), and I would get lighter rods; Carrillo, Oliver, R&R, etc...
