How many miles did you drive it before concluding the noise was still too bad with the incorrect restack?

Maybe you should trade it in for a Prius? I hear those don't make any drivetrain noise..

This thread is funny. Literally the exact reason the US got a watered down version of the car.

The only thing that would cause an issue when you properly stack the clutch plates is if you installed the spring discs in wrong. It has been a while since I did mine but it is supposed to like this on each side ) discs ( . Also did you clean and lube the bearing surfaces when you installed back into the housing? Another thing did you make sure to not to mix any of the plates between the two sides? Are you sure it is the actual diff and not the ring and pinion that is the issue?

True..... it amazes me how many people prefer the under steer from factory opposed to a proper lsd

I have been in a 9 after the rear diff plate restacked (to the way the manual actually says they should be mind you) and it made no noise. Nothing like the TRE max lock I drove (which was very noisy). Also, my Evo 6 RS rear diff makes no noise.

Don't give up and settle for understeer.

More importantly you can get the friction discs to engage on decel instead of accell.... Learned that one the hard way lol. Did you torque everything to spec? Did you install the plates dry? You should like the properly stacked setup MUCH better, unless you don't drive it hard and you would probably never see the benefits. Good luck.

from factory, in the U.S., it's:
plate, plate, disc, disc, plate-[center of diff]-plate, disc, disc, plate, plate
when it's stacked correctly, it's:
plate, disc, plate, disc, plate-[center of diff]-plate, disc, plate, disc, plate

hope that helps.

Okay so I belive I figured it out..the spider gears go in a certain way..meaning cams go into grooves a certain direction..

I belive that the cam has a special direction in the groove..anyone ever experience this?
