Here is my first attempt with going back to stock arrangement. . Still making noises
Here is the second photo where it's still makes noise and sort of still locking up. Very slightly
Is their a way to where the plates need to be facing..any plates ot dick gotta go a certain way..I lost stock way..and need to figure this out.
The only thing that would cause an issue when you properly stack the clutch plates is if you installed the spring discs in wrong. It has been a while since I did mine but it is supposed to like this on each side ) discs ( . Also did you clean and lube the bearing surfaces when you installed back into the housing? Another thing did you make sure to not to mix any of the plates between the two sides? Are you sure it is the actual diff and not the ring and pinion that is the issue?
I have been in a 9 after the rear diff plate restacked (to the way the manual actually says they should be mind you) and it made no noise. Nothing like the TRE max lock I drove (which was very noisy). Also, my Evo 6 RS rear diff makes no noise.
More importantly you can get the friction discs to engage on decel instead of accell.... Learned that one the hard way lol. Did you torque everything to spec? Did you install the plates dry? You should like the properly stacked setup MUCH better, unless you don't drive it hard and you would probably never see the benefits. Good luck.
