It's normal when you've broken the ringlands.

Stemseals don't do that.
what makes you think its the ringlands?

It's actually got more than one problem which in it's self is "normal" for modified cars.

Stem seals won't cause a lack of idle vac for one.
But that's just the easy part.

Did you add a capful of oil and redo compression test to see if the 2 low cylinder numbers went up?

So the head will have to be removed and sent to the machine shop. I'm looking at 8 to 10 hours of labor and about $890 for machine shop work on the head. Than all the new Misc parts such as water pump, gaskets, spark plugs, arp head studs, etc.

Since the head is coming off I thought about upgrading the cams as an option since this would be the best time to do it. what would be good cams to upgrade for a stock motor? i'm thinking about the HKS cams.

Would the bad valve seals cause my AFR to act all weird as well and lean out at idle?

But I just wanted to update this thread for the future when someone has the same issues as I did.

Not sure the shop did it. I took the car out of the shop and I have familymr doing the work. My friend referred me to him.

Props and shout out to familymr for doing the work on my Evo. FamilyMr updated me with pics of the Burnt valves and top of every piston. He said the problem was dual valve springs on stock guide.

More update from FamilyMr. The guides are worn and caused the inner valve spring to knock off the valve seals

Guys the car has a old school set of dual valve springs with stock valves. The valve guides are worn with a lot of play . Enough to rock the valve and hurt the top of the stem. The car will be going back with a set of gsc bronze guides and gsc beehive springs and new s1 cams. Oh an 6 exhaust and 4 intake guide seals was moving freely

I've never heard of stock guides prematurely wearing due to valve springs.

Why not S2 cams at this point?

I'm mentioned it to FamilyMr and I agree with him that the S1 would be plenty enough. Don't the S2 cams have more lift on them? I really don't plan on doing nothing major like a turbo upgrade or a built block.

Why move the power band up further in the rpm range on a stock turbo car. I've had stock 9 turbo cars with the s1 cams do low 500 dynojet with a good power band

OOOH. Now that makes sense. When I put my engine together, my machinist advised against my putting in the bronze guides I had purchased. He says he's never seen a stock set need replacing. I took his advice and have no problems to this day.
He said bronze seals really well, but will need occasional replacing. I wasn't looking to pull the head again, during the lifetime of this car.
