I see some knowledgable and modified people are going to see if there is a difference, great! I am sure I over reacted as I always do, but I know the car pulls somewhat better at high rpms. I seriously think the bovs are fine, it is this damn connection giving people fits with boost loss and high rpm power loss to some degree. Btw Malibujack, that is the same symptom another guy had before he did this clamp tightening and he thought it was the bov, so I hope this fixes your problem. Thoe99 or however you spell it, I would tighten it with the ratchet until it becomes difficult to cause the ratchet to click (kind of hard to describe). Hope that helps.
Stay safe,

Thanks Punisher! I'll let you all know what I run tomorrow night. Have you had your car to the track yet?

Here's a little write up on doing this mod. It's very simple. Tools needed are.

-Rachet
-11mm socket
-extension (I used a 10" extension to make it a lot easier)

Pop the hood and remove the small flat plastic elbow attached to the intake.

Locate the blow-off valve. There are 3 hose clamps located on the hoses connected to the blow-off valve.

Tighten each one snug. I tightened mine until the hose clamp started to crease the hose a bit. ***Don't over tighten as the stock clamps are weak and you could strip them out***

Install the intake elbow, close the hood and you are down. Now go take it out and enjoy a better feeling top end pull.

I've attached a pic showing the 3 clamps. The 3rd on is just under the aluminum turbo piping.

Okay, lets see if I can get this to attach. I highlighted the clamp that i think everyone else is talking about... the other clamp is on the backside of the BOV (also easy to get at).

I just did it in 20 secs.

Didn't need to remove air channel.

Used Snap-On angle ratchet.
Too late to test it out and go joy riding tonight but the screw did feel like it had some play before I started "carefully" tightening it.

Thanx

*** UPDATE ***

Test drove the car today.... felt like I have more constant boost in the upper RPMs.

I am bone stock and don't have a Boost G. to give conclusive numbers.

OK I just tried it...LOL, I dont know if its me, but it really seems like it works. Mine was actually pretty loose, it surprised me actually, I was expecting it to be somewhat tight, but it wasnt.

Anyways, I took the filter and that snorkel off (lol takes 10 sec) and the clamp is right there. I tightened it down along with any other clamp I seen, I figured might as well. Now the test drive.

We took it out and I had it in 3rd and floored it, I couldnt believe it at 5K where it would fall off pretty good, it now feels like its actually pulling, it felt like it was pulling to redline. Hmm, I was with my wife and shes like it does feel like it pulls better. I tried it a few times, even getting on the freeway and from 4th I got on it and I dont know...it definitely feels like it pulls harder. I dont know what else to say, I was pretty much laughing the whole time. I would recommend eveyone trying it, cant hurt anything and it only takes like 1 min

imma have to try this out now too... the whole power loss over 5.5k used to really bug me but i went for the mail in dynoflash and now it just pulls and pulls where it used to just fall off... anyways, maybe if my clamp is loose, it will just pull even harder!!!

if you want more free horespower just remove the restricter out of the lower vaccum hose going to the boost solenoid. its good for about 22psi

I did this forever ago too, and I didn't notice anything either.

I put in a 1G DSM BOV a few weeks ago and tightened it the same as I did before and now my car holds 19psi to redline. I guess in my case it wasn't that the clamp was loose, it was the BOV that was leaking.

I haven't seen this posted yet but the Service Manager where I bought my Evo, (owns an Evo himself) told me how to fix the boost taper at high RPM. Under the intake is a boost solenoid. Remove the two small hoses off the end of it and use a u-joint to connect them together. Leave the electrical plug connected and cover the two plugs on the solenoid. The car will now hold 19 psi to redline. I asked if he recommended this even on my car since I want to maintain my warranty and he said "won't be a problem".

Like I said, I haven't seen this info before so I am posting it here.

I did something like that on my WRX with bypassing the boos solenoid. It really worked. Once in a while I would hit boost cutoff in 4th gear though, but in gears 1 - 3 it worked really well.....

I will try the free horsepower mod this weekend. Thanks

The function of a blow-off valve is to vent boost when you suddenly shut the throttle under boost, such as when shifting. The BOV senses this and opens itself, venting the high-pressure air into the pleated rubber intake. Others love to vent their BOV into the atmosphere, since it makes a nice (?) sound. The only way tightening the hose clamp in question would help would be if it were leaking so much air that your air/fuel mixture was thrown off, since it's downstream from the MAF sensor. Given the native richness with which Evos are set up to run, a small leak might actually help by leaning out the mixture a bit! If the hose clamp weren't there at all, but the BOV were still inserted fully into the intake, this still wouldn't happen. Remember, this area of the intake's under negative pressure most of the time. Just my $.02

Nope. No boost controller and holding 19 psi to redline. I posted a poll a few weeks ago about it, but not many people read it.

My only "go-fast" mods are the 1G BOV and JIC exhaust.
