After Amsoil stopped making the EA46 I needed another option. Not happy with the taller skinny filter EA13 or OEM I did some cross referencing. I found the Fram XG 9688 fits the bill nicely.

There is nothing wrong with the size of the OEM oil filter. I don't care how much larger the FRAM is I would never put a FRAM filter on anything I own. I run OEM, Wix, or NAPA Pro Select (cause they are made by Wix) filters on my car.

I too used to feel bad about fram filters having bad luck with the orange years ago. However they're top of the line XG ultra synthetic is one of the top filters made. The OEM denso is a standard cellulose filter and yes it fits the base much better than the skinny taller filter. I prefer to run much higher quality synthetic filters.

I agree. Been running the Fram Ultra in all of my families cars including the EvO. The Ultra has been dissected & tested & has been proven to be a top tier filter
