2003 Evo 8 won’t crank, Here’s a run down of what’s going on. Everything electrical works just fine such as fuel pumps, radio, AC, door locks , windows , wipers, horn and Alarm. I have replaced the ignition switch in the steering column, new starter, new battery and checked fuses. I’ve checked the voltage to the starter when the key is in the on position and it read 12.65 Volts. The motor itself is fresh built with zero miles on it. AEM infinity ecu and harness have been installed. The pistons are 10.5:1. Im wording if I need a stronger battery? The current battery is an optimum red 34. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
there are 2 wires that go to the starter. One is big and always has power, the other is small and should only have power when your key is turned to start.
You may have to check everything again.Clutch safety switch, ecu setting, wiring, ecu cam//crank sync, ignition switch etc.
If its a new build its critical it fires off well . You don't want to wash the cylinders down with fuel or crank the assembly lube away from the bearings.
If there is an evo shop that knows the infinity well you may want to bring it to them to get it to fire up/tune it.
I'd unplug the CAS to keep fuel from spraying while you figure this out. Injectors won't spray until the engine turns over, but just in case...since your tune could have other settings, etc.
Like someone said: check power to the solenoid while key is in "start" position. Sounds like it's not getting any, seeing how the starter is new.
The tank is empty and I have disabled the injectors from firing on the infinity as well. I got 12.65 volts to the solenoid when the key was in the start position. I also replaced the clutch senor switch as well. The tune on the car is just a basic base map to brake in the motor.

Find a known good battery and jump the starter solenoid directly to see if its a starter or battery issue.
