Block filler?

Hey guys I'm rebuilding my engine and was considering doing a half to 3/4 fill. I do not drive it daily im lucky to get it out on the weekends. Just looking for some real world feedback. Your experience with filling your block? Overheating? Any info really.

2.0 long rod
L19
Main studs
Billet crank
Stage 3 head
Aka fully built

Not needed unless you're shooting for 1000+ hp. Usually half fill stuff doesn't have cooling issues but full fill or anything close to full fill is not going to like street driving or idling for long periods. Keep in mind too that if you're running an OEM water pump that you can't fill above where it pushes water into the block. If you fill above that point you'll have to get a block off plate and run an electric water pump and plumb the head for the inlet and outlet.

Thanks ayoustin,
I what to push 750 -800 hp. My thought was if I half fill it in theory I wont have cooling issues and the bottom end of the block would be stronger and hopefully reduce harmonics. What could it hurt?

People run 1000 horsepower on wet blocks all day long, if you have good internals and a good tuner you will be fine.

Unless you are going for 1200whp+ I wouldn't even consider it. Even then , with good tuning there will be other issues to overcome before the block rigidity is an issue.

800-1000hp isn't an issue with the right combination . The drivetrain becomes more of an issue.

Thank you guys for the feedback! It is nice to get some perspective. So I understand that its not needed..... but for 50 bucks give or take ,to in theory reduce harmonics and stiff in up the block a little. Im probably nuts and its a waste of time and maybe I just want to do it for future practice, I'm. Not sure but can anyone give me a a down side of doing it. Besides the cost of the filler?

No problem.

You don't need to fill the block. Its an old process our fathers/grand fathers did on their old terrible engines. If you fill the block , it won't cool well and you can't drive it on the street for very long.

Did you end up filling up the block? I am building my spare motor and considering 1/2 fill or even 1/3 fill. Thanks
