Block and head machining.

What do you guys usually pay to get the head and block machined?just wanted to compare the quote I got.

Depends on what you're getting done.

Short block machine work is usually around $1k though. hot tank block, bore/hone cylinders to size, deck surface, align hone mains/polish crank mains to set main bearing clearance, hone rods/polish crank journals to set rod bearing clearance, check clearance of wrist pins in small end of rod/hone as needed, balance rotating assembly, hone hub for ATI damper to fit crank snout, install rear balance shaft bearings rolled to block oil ports, final hot tank of block post machine work.

I guess I didn't realize how much work goes in to it for the whole build.

You may not need all of these services though, whats involved in the build? Is it just as simple as swapping out rods/pistons or a complete engine rebuild? You may be able to get away with just decking head, honing bores for example.

It's a complete rebuild.
the builder is awesome...I am just trying to figure out the prices for everything at the moment.
as far as I can see everything checks out.
Nothing is free in life 😉

Just wondering, what you're building with a 86.5MM headgasket and H beam rods?
