Weird whistling noise ,what is it?

Hi guys

Yesterday happened the thing first.. i attached video about for the better explaining. On higher speed and higher boost, i realized whistling noise from the engine bay belt area or behind the dashboard front of pessenger seat.

Video:

Any ideas what is it? Really similar when the wind is whistling somewhere. Or small birds in the nest. I thinked that its the belt but today i drove 30kms without this problem , i drove the same style homeward maybe a little more pulls because of the traffic overtakings and it has come again.

  • Possible boost leak?
  • Make sure your windows are fully seated up. Had that happen to me once.
Maybe youre right & could be belt related? Nice Vid / Thanks

Nope its not stock, the car is Evo 8 , and it has the upgraded "evo 9 type" turbo supported around 380-400hp. Milage is only 51.000 miles in the car.

Doesn't seem to be affected by engine speed.

Seems to be affected by your road speed.

So maybe something is positioned in such a way as to make a whistling noise from the passing air. Maybe cover one side of the car with plastic or something, see if it goes away, do the same to the other side. Isolate it until you find it.

while i increase the speed of the car, i increase the rpms too so it kinda the same thing, maybe the video isnt proper for totally explain this.
And the most annoying thing is that its not an always present sound. Last time i drove 30-40kilometers without noise before its happened again.

Pull the clutch in and let the revs drop while maintaining more or less the same speed. AFAIK, only in a CVT does RPM not change with the car accelerating. Even automatics shift
