Maperformance 2.4L LR high comp compression numbers

Hello guys,

i have a maperformance 2.4L long rod with high comp pistons (10:1). I just recently did a compression test and wanted to compare my numbers with what others with same engine builds have gotten.

engine mods : MAPERFORMANCE 2.4L Long Rod High Comp

Evo ix stock cams

Ferrea valves

Kelford valve springs & retainers

Stmtuned pte6466 gen2 stock location kit

heres the compression numbers

Not sure why you have stock cams, but compression is low. Our 9:1 2.4LR with R2 cams routinely tests at 150psi-160psi.

its because im poor , dont have the funds for r2 cams yet. 😅 i know every gauge reads differently but is your evo an 8 or 9 ? I read the 8’s usually have high compression numbers than 9’s.

It's an 8.

However 120psi is below spec even for a factory Evo9 engine which is 8.8:1 compression.

Ahh okay , maybe its just a faulty gauge from autozone. I’ll do another test with a different gauge kit and see if it gives me a better reading.

I would certainly get a quality compression tester kit. The cheap ones are inconsistent and inaccurate.

MAP engines have a bad history. I wouldn’t run one if it was free … no joke
