I agree with raywong. slight slippage is good. Not too harsh to the transmission. Afterall, clutch are much cheaper than a transfer case.

thanks for all the input so far I am using this to judge to see if the clutch issue is just american cause we like to drag race or if others around the world where having the same issues as us in the U.S.. This was also to help me decide if I should hold off till possible MR or just get a 03 and be happy Now. thanks so much for all the input. Please feel free to add more about jap and euro clutch problems adn any other main problems. thanks Deac0n.

Its NOT only a USA thing....

I remember the first month the 7 came here, some dude burnt out his clutch in 1 month.

**** happens when you drive the car like a 2wd ricer box.

BTW I searched about 5 times for any news on this topic.
Iam running a JDM 8 for about a year now and no probs with transfer case or diffs. I have prob onli done like 10 hard launches. Other than tat the most abuse i do is powershifting or at the track. But heel toeing realli preserves the clutch, drivetrain... etc. My clutch cover broke at 1000kms 2 weeks after taking delivery. But tat was due to a faulty clutch. (i didnt launch or drive hard at all. car was still running in and clutch brand new.) since then, ive used my exedy hyper single for 20,000kms now... no worries.. But its true ive heard of some 7s and 8s destroying the AYC and rear diffs from too many hard high RPM launches. I think the evo 5s or 6s TME's RS are better platforms for drags cos they dont have all the diffs and yaw control.

On another note, i time my launches whilst iam revving to ensure max boost when the clutch is dumped.(i have no launch control). I notice you cant do the hold revs at whatever RPM and dump clutch like in 2wd cars, cos you will bog down. if you have a boost meter just watch what happens if u hold revs compared to constantly revving then dump. Holding revs no matter at what RPM will still see boost dropping...Just my observation
