Max Boost!!

Wsup guys.

As you all know the stock boost on the evo is around 19 psi.

What is that maximum boost and hp the engine can handle with stock internals?

A 320 hp cast iron supra engine can handle like up to 600 hp on stock internals.

What do you guys recommend?

Would it be better to just get a larger turbo and lower the boost?

I heard around 400 whp is peretty safe for the evo, don't run more than 23 psi of boost on the stock turbo though.

if you get a bigger turbo, then you can lower the psi and still get more hp right?

no. psi is psi. volumetric movement is another thing. if u get a bigger turbo u can run high psi at a lower spin for ur turbo, which means more efficent. THat does not mean more psi. U will get more lag thou, so unless u up ur redline, it doesn't help that much at 20ish psi

Dude what are you talking about in that jibberish!? Yes, a bigger turbo can run at a much lower "PSI" and still help produce the same amount of horsepower. If it didn't what would be the point of upgrading? The difference is in CFMs. A smaller turbo will not flow as much at a certain PSI. A bigger turbo will flow more CFMs at a lower PSI rating. A bigger turbo will most likely lag more but that is one of the downfalls of a bigger turbo. Do to the natural size and weight of turbos wheel. And the Evo's internals are good for a good amount of HP. DSMers have been producing 400-500 HP on stock internals with their cars for years. No reason why we can't.
