I don't know, my whole school of thought is that you should use the smallest turbine possible. If your goals are 350whp, stick with the stock turbo. If you're looking for more, go for something bigger.

I like maximizing what I have before dealing with big time lag, especially since I'm more a road racer than drag racer. I'm addicted to the way this little 16G spools up, and I don't really need that much more power than what I have now with intake, exhaust, big cams, header, 02 housing, water injection, cam gears, injectors, fuel pump, intercooler and stock turbo. Car spools up instantly...but once I get bored, I might go for something ridiculous...but not yet.

I don’t know man?? i am a fan of big turbos. Last night a Z06 heard my turbo spool at 4000 rpm so he rolled his window down and he said: I wont race you because I just saw how your car just jumped front of me . my answer back was:
what smart guy you are lol. My friend next to me could not stop laughing. The Z06 guy was very cool. I like when these big turbos hisssss at you and you hear sssssssssssssssssssss alll the way to 7600 rpm.

I promise you once you are done with upgrading your stock turbo you are going to want something bigger. That's the way I went with my Jetta and I wish I would have just gone big to begin with because once you do, you lose all that money that you put into upgrading the little stuff (like reflashes, DVs, and that such.)

No offense, but if lag is not your cup of tea, a super charger would have been the answer to your problems. But obviously that's not applicable But what you also need to remember is just because the turbo doesn't spool as fast, that doesn't mean that you aren't makeing more/same power. I dont have the dyno's in front of me, but take a look at the POWER curve.

I just took my friend who installed the kit in on a ride. Now this guy drag races and he has a 500 whp Intgra that is built inside out. He was like dam this thing pulls hard. he was saying that about my EVO. he said that he never thought that my car would be that fast with this bolt on kit when he saw it (he did not tell me that) what a jerk . He was so shocked with all this power though.

Buschur maxed out at 390whp on race gas with the stock turbo. That was including all the supporting mods: camshaft, camgears, etc. My friend with hks camshaft, turboback, fuel pump, and custom dynoflash and only making 310whp. This is on an AWD dyno. I think Az3ar success is very impressive, considering what he got in his car. He is still running the stock MAF sensor if im not mistaking. The buschur 390hp stock turbo car has an AEM EMS with MAP sensor. Can't wait until Az3ar gets all his supporting mods. Good luck man...

guys, i have been reading this thread all night took me hrs, but i am a little lost, ur claiming 400bhp or pretty close at the wheels on standard engine internals? surely thats not possible as it must be close to 500atf which a stock evo 8 will not take??

I was about to order my atp kit, but i wanted it pretty quick, and the time people out of the us have been waiting, i doubt ill get it in less than 2 weeks, so it gives me more time to think what exactly im gonna do. Thanks for all your input, was a great read

Well, I guess as soon as an ATP kit makes more power than my setup with the stock turbo maxed out and crying for it's mother, I'll still be sitting on the sidelines, hitting 24psi at 2800 RPM. :-)

Stock evo engine should handle well over 450whp as many tuners here did that. EVO engines are tough and iron block is the key . I dont know why you think stock EVO cant handle 400hp???

Search on these forums some people are running 500 whp on stock engine all day long with no issues.
