/\/\/\/\ Very good post mate, as i have bin trying to say for a long time on here this guy (EVO 400) is the man. the GT3071 is a good turbo but it is flawed. clipping is not a good idea on modern turbos when we are all striving for less lag. if you want to upgrade then go for a GT28 as they are just as good but better sized. if you really want more then there is the GT2830 which is a wicked combo for 2.0ltrs (just ask Claudis (i think) on www.lancerregister).

just my thoguths but there you go!

thanks Chris!

Yup how did you know that it's a white plastic hose??? It's freaking cheap. You can’t' push it or it snaps off like a *****. I guess I will get something from home depo tonight, I hope they will have a small hose like that. About the engine check light do you think it was because the hose snapped??? I have not touched anything else besides installing the plastic in the bottom. I just can't imagine how sensitive our ECU is????????

GT2830 is a great turbo however its a hair bigger than out stocky 16G. It only pumps 50 whp extra so is it worth the money??????

Well a boost leak is goina be a problem man!

Just get some of the black rubber line (like fuel line or whatevers cheap) and some brass fittings. I used a plastic t fitting, but you may want to get another because mine always tend to break when I pull the line off it.

Well youre not going to know unless you hook it up and scan for codes. But my guess is that it is. I'd double check anyway just for saftey sake.

No offense, but if lag is not your cup of tea, a super charger would have been the answer to your problems. But obviously that's not applicable But what you also need to remember is just because the turbo doesn't spool as fast, that doesn't mean that you aren't makeing more/same power. I dont have the dyno's in front of me, but take a look at the POWER curve.
I don't know if this is been covered already but the OEM K03 turbo on the Jetta/GTi puts out the cfm of a fart compared to a big 16G. You HAVE to upgrade that tiny puke-n-die turbo immediately. The 16G has gone mid 11s with no nitrous in a car that is full weight. There's no single K03 in the universe that can do that in a full weight Dub.. Maybe if the 1.8T is modded and put in a Super7 LOL.

For spoolup, but compared to a 16G? Get real, man. The 1.8T's limiting factor is that baby turbo. The guy comapred the stocker to an APR Stage III turbo, but the 16G is much more comparable to the APRIII unit than the crappy teensy K03.
