Question BOV, VTA and Recir ? Two BOV

Anyone notice a difference in turbo spool up and power between VTA and recir BOV. I notice that with the turbo RFL VTA the turbo spools faster and it pulls harder as compare to the crushed 1g bov on my car. The drivability just sucks with the RFL.

I was experimenting to see if both the RFL and 1g BOV can be use by switching the vacuum line between the two but it didn't work. With the vacuum connected to the 1g and not the RFL, the car drives fine under no boost. As soon as I floor the gas pedal the RFL would open during boost (puzzled me) and vent to the air. I was gearing toward using a close open valve to keep the RFL from venting to the air but didn't. I will post the picture later.

The are valves that you can do BOTH with, just by turning a knob. Search the forums you will find it.

it wont give you more power but may help with lag. all a bov does (of any kind) is vent UNWANTED presuresd air from the intake track when you come off the throtle (ie the inlet manifold presure becomes negative, a vacum). it is simply a way of keeping momentum in the turbo and preovnting damage.

if you wanted to do somthing with the vented gas, then i have seen a anti lag system (on a very exspencive RS200 racer) that vents the gas into the exhaust manifold. so when the normal anti-lag system is switched on, there is not only a load of unbernt fuel in the manifold, but also a load of cold air. as you can imagine there is NO lag what so ever! but the turbo doesn't last too long!!!!!!!

Chris.

It's the BR upper pipe and MAS. I just added a flange for the 1g and powder coat it. My brother is a welder and his work place also powder coat so I got it done for free.

chuntington101:

yeah I figure that was the case and it could be the lag but I do notice that the car pulls harder and the turbo spools faster. I mistated my question because it could be the bov not that it was vented to the air. I don't know if anyone else notice this with the RFL bov. I wanted to run two BOV and switch between the two but it didn't work. With the 1g BOV connected the RFL bov would open under boost. I thought that the only way for the BOV to open is if it had vacuum but this wasn't the case.
