Random Misfire 0300: Dealership reflash available...
My car would set the P0300 code about every 100 miles. So, I'd studder along to the next exit, park, and clear the code with a regular scanner. Then I got a Creader.
The first time after I plugged it in and got a code the Creader didn't do a thing. I still had to pull over and clear the code with my other scanner. The second time it happened the CEL was on for about 10 seconds and then all was normal. After that I never have had another code. So, I'd say the Creader keeps the code from happening.
I also drive a subie WRX. This car''s ECU can't set a P0300 code, there is none listed in the list of codes it can set. So I keep wondering why one of the smart ECU guys on this list doesn't just write it out of our code.

The CReader reads the codes on the system and displays them. I believe it displays any prior, uncleared codes as well up to the past 2-3 (?). It then automatically clears all codes present in the system.
If you have one installed, it will display and clear without you touching it. Therefore, if you have it installed while driving and don't notice the Service Engine Soon light or the CReader's display when a code hits, it will get cleared without you being the wiser. This means that, even if it's a code OTHER than the 0300, it will be cleared and you won't know it happened.
Also, if you have other symptoms when an 0300 (or any other code for that matter) crops up, they will be present at least until the code is cleared. So that "stumble" will still happen, but go away when the CReader clears the 0300 a few seconds later. It is NOT immediate.
Hope this helps.

I first got the P0300 code 2.5 years ago. When the reflash didn't work I started searching this site for a possible fix. From here I found a vendor site with a product write-up in which the vendor explained that the customer would also need to obtain a Creader because the product they were offering would cause a code. They explained that the Creader would actually prevent the code from being set if kept in the port. I got the impression that they weren't completely sure why this was. It was sort of a discovery.
I tried briefly today to relocate the site and the write-up but no luck.
It is possible that my car has just stopped setting the P0300 code since I plugged in the Creader. Otherwise it has to be the Creader that is preventing the code from being set - and I don't mean set for a few seconds and then going away. When the code is set the stumble is very noticable.

I'd take it to the dealer, 03's and some 04's were plauged with the problem, they fixed it for 2005, the dealer should be able to tell you what's up!
Shouldnt you just be able to upload your map/tune to another persons map that has had the p0300 dealer reflash? The software should be the same. Anybody out there want to shoot me there rom file as I sure dont have any warrnety left...haha
the p0300 is a misfire code... there's talk of the knock sensor being too sensitive or something... the only way to fix that route of thinking is to go stand alone.
otherwise some tunes have been known to generate the p0300. this would lead me to think it's something that could potentially be tuned out. if that's the case then there's hope.

This question is for a flash tuner to answer.
