Random Misfire 0300: Dealership reflash available...
I just filed my complaint. FYI The dealer rebuilt my engine (new rings), re-flashed ECU MANY times, and replaced my input shaft. GUESS WHAT....No cure! I have over a dozen warranty R/O's with Mitubishi right now. EVERY time I tell them to check the coils, hell....put in a set of used test coils for about 500 miles. They said uh, nope....this is all we can do! The problem is still there... even though I am WAY out of warranty, I don't care...I am an ex-service advisor! I am a pushy SOB that knows the "loop holes".

so it doesn't work. damnit. i guess i'll cancel my app. i'll spend that $49 on sumthing else.
My 03 used to have p0300 code after every 1 or 2 days street driven. I just switched the two 264/272 exhaust cams to BC 272s and it has been 2 weeks with no code.
I'm not saying that it's the culprit but just another info that may help.

mine seemed to be more prevelant with the exedy twin disk, and its usually at a restart if i freeze frame it. so i think its the chatter...
wonder if i disengage the clutch switch and have it start with the clutch not depressed if it will go away

i think I'm one of the UNlucky ones that has to deal with the misfire on a very consistant basis. I do a lot of driving, about 200 miles a day and 90% of it is highway... my car misfires more times then I can count. seriously its got to be over 200 times per day (at least once per mile). I am going to look into the code reader as a bandaid until
can actually fix the problem but it looks like having the code reader plugged in doesn't actually stop the misfires from happening.
Does anyone who misfires as sevearly as me us a code reader? does it stop the misfires?

The first time after I plugged it in and got a code the Creader didn't do a thing. I still had to pull over and clear the code with my other scanner. The second time it happened the CEL was on for about 10 seconds and then all was normal. After that I never have had another code. So, I'd say the Creader keeps the code from happening.
I also drive a subie WRX. This car''s ECU can't set a P0300 code, there is none listed in the list of codes it can set. So I keep wondering why one of the smart ECU guys on this list doesn't just write it out of our code.
My car would set the P0300 code about every 100 miles. So, I'd studder along to the next exit, park, and clear the code with a regular scanner. Then I got a Creader.

I can confirm that my p0300 code has been fixed. I drove the car for 2 weeks locally and longdistance. I took it to a drag event all day under 100+ degree with 91 and c16 gas.
Previously, it had already throw up the code after 2 to 3 days. None happened. So if you're getting the code after installed some cams, which is my case, if you can, please install with some other set of cams. It may fix that.

I know how to fix it - junk the car. I just want to live with it.
I have the problem in a major way......I cannot drive more than a day without it happening.
The dealership is very little help and seem completely clueless!
I have had the car to them to flash the ECU twice, they have also replaced the plugs, now they are trying the wires, I can almost bet that when I pick it up tomorrow it's going to happen again!
Has anyone had good results with colder range plugs? Anyone who had the problem (0300 code) happening and daily basis?
or am I ****ed, because I cannot live with it!
