The wrap will also decrease time to full boost...
How will wrapping decrease time to full boost.
Anybody that knows about turbos knows that the more exhaust heat energy you keep in the exhaust will increase spool-up.
But, I would think he did it as insulation to keep from cooking the radiator hose and lowering under-hood temps.
(I just corrected a type-o on dis so I'm also knot slammed by da inglish notcees)

I would probably agree with on # 1 and #3 of your post...but in regards to part 2 of your comment...you're kind of a dick aren't you

Thanks for the info on the thermal wrapping. It was what I had figured, I just was not sure if it was actually practial or just theory. Guess I'll just monitor the under hood temps for a while.

LOL, you crack me up man. You answered your own question and are still confused. If you use wrap as an insulator, it is keeping the heat from escaping to the engine bay, meaning it stays in the pipes and provides more thermal energy to spool up the turbo. But then again you already knew that since you know about turbos

You just said the same thing I did. Keeping the heat energy in the pipes transfers to the turbo, thus more heat/exhaust energy going into the turbo.
You said wraping the pipes will decrease the time to full spool, which is the OPOSITE? Ha Ha yourself!
Now, if you are basing this off something your buddy with a turbo Jetta said, I understand.

I said wrapping the pipes will DECREASE time to full boost, meaning the time it takes to get to full boost will be less. This is not the opposite, you are just confused.
