Service Maintenance
Service Maintenance
Can anyone explain to me how does the
respects maintenance that was not done at their service location. Lets take a 15,000 mile mark as an example, if I go for a regular oil change as well as the one in transmission and all differentials and I have a receipt from a place like Quaker State that this was done. Also the 15000 maintenance mark says that many more things have to be caompleted like inspect all hoses and clamps, test distributor, ignition wires, coil, adjust belts to correct tension and check for wear, etc. ( + bunch more listed in the maintenance schedule booklet). Many of us think that fluids were changed and replenished and that is it, this maintenance mark is done. Now if something happens, for example you blow your engine for any reason, how do you prove that a 15000 mile service mark was completed? How do you prove that you have checked the coil or adjusted belt tension, even if you know how to do it? On the other side, if you go to the service at
they will stamp your booklet with the date and the odometer reading and you don't care wheather they touched it or not they have to warranty the failure. (Sorry for all the gramma and spelling mistakes

You can't prove it and mitsu will void your warrentee... but even if you did all the work in house they would find/make up a reason to void it anyway. Warrentee through mitsubishi is totally worthless because they wont stand behind it. Thats how they can offer a 10 year 100k warrentee is because they dont' actually honor it so they can say whatever they want.
As long as you keep your receipts for things that you've replaced (oil, filter, etc), I think it would be difficult for them to make the case that you failed to performance adequate maintenance for warranty purposes.
I drove to all the quick lube shop and did not find one that had the proper lubricants for the EVO. I did not even find a Mitsubishi dealer that Had the Dia-queen 90 LSD or the 75W-90 or 75W-85 GL-4 in stock. That is why I decided it was safer to do my own Fluid changes.
