2003 Evo
1. Gas tank is too small
2. No cruise control - this is an issue out west where you can drive hundreds of miles at a stretch on empty blacktop
3. Gear box is not as smooth as it should be
4. Gauges - should black on white, like all great performance cars
5. Big rear spoiler - took it off

Since Mitsu has to assume that everyone from 17 yr. old kids to 50+ will be driving this car, they built the car very well. As for cruise control, who cares it's too much fun to drive to have cruise. And I have driven cross country a couple times in my Evo. I deal with the leg cramps with smile and a blip of the throttle.

I don't have any "gripes" but more of nuisances...

1) Need 2 more gallons in the gas tank capacity
2) Side mirror defrost
3) Paint that doesn't look like an orange peel
4) Too rich of a tune on the stock ECU
5) Blue panels in the Recaros

My 2003

No Cruise Control

Wish upshifting gears was smoother

3" Downpipe from B&B revision 1 rattled like crazy after a hundred miles

Insurance was real high until Allstate gave me a nice discount. Some insurance reps wont even bother to sell me insurance once I told them my car make and model

Cops and ricers likes to tailgate me.

Afraid of crooks stealing my stuff when parked on street, have compustar, but wish I can legally own a handgun

The only one I'll add to the list is that the gauges in the dash are too small for a performance car.

The tach is too small and hard to see, the speedometer is tough to read at a glance. It is real easy to be going 80 rather than 60.

anyhow, otherwise.

1. stock altezzas
2. loud drivetrain (louder than my past subarus)
3. small gas tank
4. bad stock stereo
5. no cruise...

so basically everything that everyone else mentioned. but like everyone else, i absolutely LOVE the car. that list is really very minor compared to the joy the car really is.

1. stock tail lights
2. small gas tank
3. the urge to mod
4. more than warranty repair issues, worrying that the car will fall apart and require them
5. requirement to purchase SS&L package for HIDs/Fogs

I love that and think that's a feature, allows me to run all the wires to the driver side (UTEC) and where my laptop and tuner are, and since my gauges are in the center console that's not an issue either.

After reading this thread I understand why americans get watered down version of hot cars.

I think that Evo9 should get even wider seats, cruise control, huge gas tank, softer suspension, all-season tires, 19" rims (possibly chrome), dvd player w/ game console of choice, amp and 12 speakers, leather seats with heating, dual-zone AC, semi-auto gearbox -- no more griding!!! , better sound insulation.
Did I forget something?
