The transfer case heats up quickly enough to use Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil, part # 3775610 without much of a problem.

If you are concerned about the oil being too think in artic temp zones you may want to drive at speeds below 45mph for 5-10 miles to warm things up before jumping on the highway.

Just fill the transfer case with Diaqueen and let the transmission do the rest.

The transfer case has 2 oils inside of it that are separated by a bunch of oil seals to keep the two oils from mixing.

Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil to lubricate the ring & pinion in the transfer case.

The front differential is also located inside the transfer case, yet it is sealed off from the ring & pinion inside of a sealed metal housing, and it receives oil from the transmission by way of an oil feed passage that allows the oil to pass through and lubricate the front diff. From there this oil flows back into the transmission.

More on this can by found by using the all mighty search engine.

I drained only one quart of the MT-90 out last night and put in one quart of MTL. WOW, what a difference. Smoother shifting already. Even when cold there is smoother shifting and a dramatically different feel on the stick. I think when it warms up there will be an even bigger difference.
Thanks to Dave at Redline for the suggestion.

GL5 for what and quantity? what brand?

Royal Purple you can use the same on both?

I'm really confused...

Thanks

The ONLY fluid I would use other than OEM is Amsoil MTG in the tranny.
