Transfer oil & transaxle oil question.
The transfer case heats up quickly enough to use Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil, part # 3775610 without much of a problem.
If you are concerned about the oil being too think in artic temp zones you may want to drive at speeds below 45mph for 5-10 miles to warm things up before jumping on the highway.

The transfer case has 2 oils inside of it that are separated by a bunch of oil seals to keep the two oils from mixing.
Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil to lubricate the ring & pinion in the transfer case.
The front differential is also located inside the transfer case, yet it is sealed off from the ring & pinion inside of a sealed metal housing, and it receives oil from the transmission by way of an oil feed passage that allows the oil to pass through and lubricate the front diff. From there this oil flows back into the transmission.
More on this can by found by using the all mighty search engine.

Thanks to Dave at Redline for the suggestion.
Well I've read the whole threat...

I'm really confused...

Is it really worth the $3000 risk to use some aftermarket oil? I'd say no.
