1st Road Trip in the Evo

well this week i went down to EIU to visit my sister and to drink redbull and vodka it was a nice ride i guess overall. some of the good points were that it was very stable except for the huge gusts of wind we were getting, as well as it starts to haul *** around 80-100mph. some of the bad sides were the RPMs were sitting to high (but so was my speed ) and the fuel take is the size of a zippo i made it down on 3/4 tank. but it was a nice ride around 2 1/2 hour ride. but this car is not a touring car by anymeans. if i had to use the highways everyday this car would have been gone a long time ago.

What was your average MPG? and how many miles did you go on 3/4 of a tank?

I drove my Evo round trip between NOVA and Bowling Green, KY back in May...over 600 miles each way...not the best car for a long trip (no cruise control), but the seats are actually quite comfortable...

drove my Evo 14hrs straight. I bought it in Richmond, VA and drove it straight home to Chicago. Seats are comfy, mileage was decent, and no cruise control really sucked. As some point i wished it had a 6spd. All in all, this is not a road trip car (comfort wise), but it was still fun at times.

I've driven from Western Illinois to New Jersey and back twice since I got my car in June. It's about 950 miles each way. I typically average around 23-24 mpg going between 75 and 80mph. It's not the ideal car for such a trip, but not as bad as I would have expected.

the evo is lots of fun "sometimes" AKA when ever the radar beeper wasnt blinking AKA all the time or at least on good old 57

PS do you have a mexican friend with a red talon?

Ive driven my Evo From Wisconsin to Indianapolis twice, and Im planning on driving from Milwaukee to Minneapolis this wekend to pick a buddy up from school.

Besides not having cruise control its a perfect car.

cruise control is only good if you want to stay at one speed and thats no fun at all.

It is when u have to get from Trinidad, CO to Alberquerque, NM because there's no 91 octane in between and you want to get the best mileage possible in that stretch.

^ i did oregon to utah, about 800 miles one way. cruise is good for the exact reason. if i dont have my on the gas peddel i am waaayyy mor likely to keep from exceding posted speed limits by more than 15-20. i got about the same mileage as the rest of you, and drove solo about 12 hours straight. i was in utah for about 40 hours and drove home the next 12. short, fast trip, and the full tank size thing was good at keeping me awake.

The only problems I have in road trips are the fact that my back starts to hurt after a long while (don't really care about how "rough" the ride is). Do the recaro's keep your back feeling good for long periods of time in comparison to other cars?

We use the wife's WRX Wagon for road trips. Seats and suspension are a little bit softer and the cruise control really does make a difference.

No cruise control equals 100+ MPH for me...
