I am Scared will they know what i did ?!?!?
Your ECU data logs the last 15 seconds of the accident or until the cel light goes off.
But I can't see how you could blow it up with MBC, unless you boost it up without proper tuning over 23 psi for a long time.
If that happens and you blow it up, then it's your fault. But I don't see any harm going to the dealers for them to fix it.
The dealerships don't give a damn about hard working honest people in the first place and their honest warranties, so mine as well take advantage of them as much as possible.
I always thought the dealers are honest but they're probably crooked as any con man/ dishonest corporation, like enron or MCI

OK, rather than get wrapped up in this thread, I'll just act like I read the first post and go from there.
I am very much a "you play you pay" guy...that said. I waited about 5K miles before I started any mods. I wanted to make sure I didn't get something that had any MAJOR problems from the factory. If so, I wanted to get them fixed before modding. Clean slate so-to-say. Now, at 10K or so, I believe I have a well put-together car, with a few interesting personality characteristics, but no major flaws. So, it's time to mod.
Until I was ready to WIPE my warranty, I left it stock...because I didn't want to pay. The cars aren't slow stock, so you can just enjoy the fast stock car you bought for a while if you're overly concerned. I've heard some horror stories about warranty work, and I've heard some dealers work well with people...so you're rolling the dice once you do your mods. Good luck.

I would be very sure to remove all visible (audible) mods before going to the dealership for anything warranty related. I currently get my oil changed at a jiffylube using mobil-1 and keeping all receipts. If anything went wrong with my car, I think I would take out the MBC, put back the stock airbox and cat, then drive in to the dealership. I mean, why not take it to the dealership? If they fix it, great..if not, you're no worse off than where you were before you showed up.
As far as people discussing things like ethics, rightness/wrongness, the whole morality of hiding mods, etc. I don't really think it's the role of this forum to dictate to people what is right or wrong. I for one hate for people to transfer to me their absolute sense of what is acceptable or unacceptable. All I am concerned about in the forum, and I believe the guy who started this thread is interested in, are all options that are open to him and the consequences of those options. I will leave him to make the evaluation of the consquences vs. benefit ratio.

Wow, Evotexas isn't a bully
. I don't know why some of you guys mod your cars so damn much if you don't have the money, but I wouldn't say Mitsubishi is the protagonist. I really don't believe that they had any plan to back their cars, they thought everyone would mod or race and their warranty would be voided. Your dad makes money off of the backs of the boors and rubes of America, simply because they are uneducated in the fine arts of swindling, cajoling, and wheedling that are practiced at American dealerships. I am all but 100% certain this makes you insensitive to the many who are denied service. Does that mean it's okay to rip them off? Perhaps it does, in some cases. If a warranty was made in bad faith, why not try and take your hard earned money back from Mitsubishi.
La-la-la-la-la, I can't hear you! I'm living in la la land!

i say learn how to work on your own car & then the dealership becomes a non-issue. if you can bake a cake, you can fix a car. yes it really is that simple, u just need the tools.

EVOTEXAS is giving another viewpoint, He is giving this guy something to think about before he makes these decisions that could potentially cause him heartache and headaches later with his dealership

So if you admit to being taken (since everyone who does business with a dealership must be since your statment is quite general considering you have no clue who I or my father are - could be your neighborhood dealerships) then I guess I can't see why your self proclaimed lack of business sense would allow your opinion any weight in this conversation. Oh wait! You don't even have a car. My bad, I guess lack of experience is better than none at all.If you think that a company offering a warranty to fix their mistakes and not yours is ripping people off then you are part of the problem also. So when you gonna "stick it to the man" next?

Mitsu doesn't actually warrentee their cars anyway so if you have any misconceptions about them covering you modded or not then wake up. Might as well fix up your car cause if you own an Evo and it breaks its comming out of your pocket anyway.
Just do what I did. Build a relationship with the head mechanic at your dealer, understand what will and will not effect your warranty in daily driving conditions, I.E., MBC, catback exhaust, air intake, etc and have them install it. I don't understand all the people on here who flame their dealer. These people know the car and those mechanics who are actually into EVO's, will treat your car with kid gloves if you build a solid relationship with them. I take my car to the dealer for everything.... Just my opinion. Good luck with whatever you choose
OMG!!!!! i wet the the bed!! will my parents find out? will the yellow stain go away? will my friends laugh at me at school?
answer: who gives a *****!!
if you have the money to mod your car and not worry about a part not being covered if it fails due to that mod then by all means mod away, but dont sit here and whine about what you will do if mitsu finds out i modded my car. this is a completely useless thread.
p.s. just trying to keep it real!!
