I am Scared will they know what i did ?!?!?
ok heres the deal, i wanna mod ... dont we all. lets say I get a Mbc and go 21lbs...vroom vroom..... if the **** hits the fan and something breaks of course im going to take off the mbc go back to stock ... go to mitsu and be like fix me !!! .... any way down to business .... will they know ?! is there anything in the ECu that can record stuff like boost lvls.... RPM history .. overreving stuff they dont like you to do ... Just like to see where im at before they go "hey nice 21lbs and a 9k overrev VOID!!!! hahahaha" id hate to have to slap a service mgr =/
depends on what year your car is. the '05s have a newer version of the ecu that can supposidly be inspected for tampering and whatever. you're gonna get a lot of people coming in here that are gonna say, "you gotta pay to play".
They will know everything man!
Besides, I think you voided the warranty when you pulled off the dealer lot.
Also, if you tune your car right and not go out to destroy it... you won't need to worry about the warranty.
And last time I checked, I don't think we have a "black box" in our evos.

Bottom line:
If you want to use your warranty to fix your car, don't modify it. If you do modify it, own up to the fact that you knowingly installed something that could void your warranty or break parts that weren't intended to work with what you installed. stop making it harder for the honest people and stop making it more expensive for everyone. What Mitsubishi expects out of its customers is not unreasonable and are simply measures to prevent them from fixing your mistakes. A warranty is to fix THEIR mistakes. Thanks, buddy.

TexasEvo lots of forums to flame dont do it on my thread besides maybe u dont understand my resoning for asking this dealerships know poeple mod thier cars. thats why they are so damn paranoid about covering problems. i just dont want them to not cover something that my mod did not break just because i have mods... happend thousand times... dont worry about me blowing my engine or something stupid and tow it in like hey mitsu WTF u guys do to my car and act like i dint mod ... i dont like getting laughed at. i just dont wanna pull in for an oil change and have the service mgr taking notes on my mods.
well as for me, I want to install the OEM 05 hotside and compressor cover(Thanks EVOTEXAS for your reference to TurboTrix, he got back to me and he said that everything should still be the same as far as internals and valve timing/figures). I'll own up to damages that it may cause. But I want to know if the dealer will know about this mod since this mod couldn't really potentially cause damages right? I mean it came stock on all the 05's. I just don't want the dealer giving me a hassle for other issues that are unrelated.
If you blow something expensive, they will send a Mitsu rep to come take a look. One of the first things they will look for is evidence that indicated you tapped into the Boost vacuum lines to install a MBC.

I'm not flaming you or laughing at you. Let me explain where I am coming from. My father owns 19 dealerships and I work for a large japanese car manufacturer. People with your mindset are a burden to honest society. I don't know how that makes you feel, but I wouldn't want to be in that position through life. You are not going to change my point of view by telling me not to flame you in your thread. You offered information in a public forum for the specific purpose of having people comment. Your welcome.

Do you just want Mitsubishi to like you as a person?
So the new EVO's come with warrenties?
I'd start first off by starting a good relationship with you dealership. Talk to the guy(s) that would be working on your car. Also if you do all your "service" at the dealership they are more likely to cover things (at least that's been my experience).
A few lessons I've learned with previous cars that can really save headaches down the road...
- Take your time (i think this is most important)
- Get a shop manual
- Make sure you have the proper tools
just my .02

Thats why you go to a mod friendly dealer. I'm sure i could call up first saying that the car is acting up. My friend behind the desk will just say return it to stock or hide everything (boost controller, etc.)
