yeah, theories are funny like that. i'm 30. make $15,000 a year and own my evo clear. my insurance is $250 a month for just straight liability. but i have been a model citizen lately so that will be dropping to $200.

Why would you not have full coverage on a brand new car. That is crazy. It is cool that it is paid for but seems like too big a risk to me.

Look man, an average apartment is $600 a month. Take that by 12 and your at $7200 a year for rent. Throw your $250 a month insurance and times that by 12 equals $3000. Now your closer to $!0,200. You gotta eat too. Your gettin the picture......... Your $15k a year aint cutting it. Maybe you save $28,000 to put down through the years but other people dont even have $1000 in their bank account. $28,900, either you got the greatest deal on earth or you just got the EVO without the spoiler and moonroof. I got the spoiler and sunroof so msrp is around $32,500 and that doesnt even include taxes and ect.

My theory is... if u'r not cutting your OWN grass or shoveling YOUR own snow in your OWN house.. YOU shouldn't be worrying about an evo... Think Lancer, Neon SrT or i hate to say...Civic..
Priorities fellas! .......... Just my crummy 2 cents

i'm glad you guys are looking out for everyone's best interest...
but some of us have different priorities.
If buying this car means living at home for another 3 years, and spending your weekends at your girlfriend's dorm room... then I'm all for it.
I'm willing to sacrifice premium vegan cuisine, for oriental style top ramen.
If it means having quieter sex to have an awesome car... sign me up.
Plus, free cable, free phone, in house laundry, garage.... awesome.
I moved out the minute i graduated high school. the following year i moved back. :P (i live in southern california... the cost of living is ridiculous)
It was fun, but i can definitely wait a few more years.
car payment > rent

But those Ricer overdone F2F wannabee Body kits and 5 foot high wings gotta go lol.. Back to My Statement..... I'm only 24yrs old with a nice paying Job (as of New York standards) i could have easily BOught an Evo.. but i thought about my future (and NJ insurance lol).. So i got the Mini rocket Lancer es lol.. Bought a house.. now im undergoing a career change.. Future Air Traffic Controller here...... Stressful *** job.. but Uncle sam Starts you at $80K a year!!.... In 2005 or 2006.. i will be Modding that brand new Evo IX and the fiancee will INHERIT lol The Turbo ES... (A
Mitsu household!) Mean while other peoples priorities STILL arent straight lol.. But dude... 2 each is own... Do your thing but just make the right choices

All of us Evo and lancer guys catch hard-ons when we catch you at a stop light lolol...
But I'd hate to see your erection turn soft after a stoplight encounter with a non-stock civic. hehe.
you're still driving a fwd car, so I don't see how you can bad mouth a honda. Especially a 400+hp 2000 lb one...
just kidding around
I think the most important thing you need to remember is...
don't have kids!
It's the most important financial decision you can make!
This of all the money you can save!
Would you rather drive an Enzo.... or have a stinky little poop monster!?
Holy off topic batman. Sorry!
Kid lancer really has his head on straight, got his priorities right on. Almost everybody can afford a 30k car, hell I can even afford a 40k car, but I'd be living on bread and water and have to stay home 24/7... won't be able to afford gas
It's almost funny and sad at the same time to hear that guy having to sell things on ebay, and get liability only just to afford an evo. If you total your evo, you're going to have to keep paying off your car.... without your car. Imagine paying $400-600 a month for the next 5 years for nothing.
If it's all paid off, you pretty much lost $28000. With 15000 a year that's a little over $1200 a month, I can't imagine having to pay bills living by myself and on top of that getting a 30k car. You're making a HELL of a sacrifice alright.

thats hardcore as hell maxr. I thought i was being reckless getting an evo and not having a mortgage yet. seriously, how do you pay off 10k in debts, plus a 30k car on 15k a year? and what happens if you decide you want a gf, or meet someone? is the EVO going onto ebay then?
and the insurance thing, are you not worried at all of what will happen to the car in a wreck, or vandalism? can I ask how old you are. It seems strange to find a guy who can swing owning a house on 15k, but still makes what seems to me as reckless financial decisions.

The best way to get the Evo is to get married, you can split all your payments half/half. Also u dont really have to pay for your wife anywhere. Then after U got married (or before) get a job at a restaurant for free food. It works for me after mortage , car and bills payments we still save more then 4000-4500 a month. I eat good have money to spend and i can buy anything I want.(well almost)
PS, I still go to school---UIC 3 days a week

but then the wife has to approve of all the purchases since it's half her $$... plus, then you gotta let her drive it, and you know she's gonna bring it back with no gas...
some married coworkers of mine have a saying: guys consider one car theirs, one car their wife's... women consider the car with gas in it to be theirs."

But I like the idea of Wife making 100k/yr pay me 15k/yr + expenses for sweeping and laundry
