MY EVO vs 03 COBRA
There is, and they are actually being pretty cool about it. Of course that may change if we keep it up...

buncha damn ricers....like said before, put some sticky tires on that cobra, bye bye evo.
a friend of mine bought an 04 cobra, put on some drag radials and ran a 12.57 the third pass down the track with the spare tire and the stock air filter...if you are not impressed by those cars i don't know what will

Evidently I don't know my Mustangs. My fault.
The video was posted on another forum so I guess they were wrong too.

The video I posted was false, not an 03 Cobra.

The Cobra is a hell of a car. Stock it does the 1/4 in 12.9 to 13.2 (from various publications). Modified those things are a beast. Yeah, a modified evo (depending on modification) can beat a stock Cobra in the 1/4 or roll on....but note that is a modified evo. Both are great cars...which one you get depends on your driving style and preference. Wouldn't mind having both.

well guys i raced an 04 cobra tonight on the high way. he posts on svt perfomance so im shure he will see this through the link. any ways he has an off road pro chamber mid pipe, and flow master cut in mufflers. that thing used to spank me bad on the roll, just drive away from me. tonight was different though. in the past 2 weeks ive installed hallman mbc, boost gauge, and turbo back RnR 3" exhaust with test pipe and to both of our amazment i pulled ahead from 50 to 80 or so. as soon as i shifted to 4th he started his slow march away from me though, next weekend im installing afc and intake so hope fully that will turn the tide and the evo can stay in front. although i know as soon as his car gets any other mods im through. so i would have to say "i think" the evo (with afc or other comp work, full exhaust, and mbc) would win against a BONE STOCK 03-04 cobra. we are going to go at it again next weekend so i will post back then

o.k., i wasn't going to post on this thread but i can't resist. i have driven many ford products. from one of my favorite's, an 87 1/2 ford t-bird turbo coupe, to a 93 escort gt. the turbo coupe was wicked fast, the escort put down a respectable 15.9 qt w/ just an intake filter and an exhaust( muffler only), i haven't driven in a mustang in a while. i also have driven a svt lightning. the point i am saying is that these cars were all fast. Here was my problem w/ ford. : The t-bird had all kinds of special parts ( electronic) on this year. abs, adjustable shocks etc. unfortunatey, they all broke sooner or later. a new abs computer was 2k !!!!!!!!
The escort was basicaly a mazda 1.8 dohc motor ( later miata's and mx3's) it revved hard and fast. unfortunately, every electronic sensor etc broke
i.e. water temp sensor- 90 bucks!)
These 2 items alone have pretty much lost my faith in ford electronic parts. there are more that i can mention. @ the same time i wonder about some of the parts in some of the g.m. cars that i have had.
The reason i bought an evo was not cause of straight line performance. it was because of it's overall performance/room/style.
Have you ever been in a mustang? the interior room is horrid, but the car is big!
I know i will eat most gt's for breakfast, but an svt cobra is a diffferent animal. These cars were designed for people who like to drag race( irs be damned on cobra's), and they were engineered for people who value straight line performance.
I doubt any engineer's @ mitsu were trying hard to figure out what the best configuration was for an evo in a drag race.
Our cars were designed for rally racing. Period. If i raced a cobra on a rally track, i would smoke it just as much as it will probably smoke me on in a drag race.
Look @ the 2 cars side by side. both cost about the same, but try and fit 4 other friends in a cobra( although i will admit that i have only had more than 2 people in my car only once), look @ the size of the trunks, and the mpg. I looked toward the ford products( lightning and cobra) but i was not willing to fork over 30 large for a chassis that is older than my girlfriend!. Just be happy w/ what you have . and enjoy modding and driving it.
At the same time, don't cry if you get smoked @ the strip by a cobra, and i'm sure that the cobra owner won't cry if he gets smoked on a dirt road.
I have owned honda's, a pontiac, an s-10, a few fords, a buick, and my first car a nissan hardbody pickup.
I can honestly say that the evo is my fav so far. ....

....
1. I didn't realize Ford was marketing the Cobra as comfortable vehicle for a family.
2. If a Cobra is on a dirt road, chances are he's got more to worry about than your evo.

I love Evos and have been considering an MRS, but they are great all around performance cars. Great Chassis, Great handling, not the absolute best drag cars as delivered stock. They weren't intended to be.
Despite all the IRS/Launch bashing here, drag racing is one thing Cobras do very well.
DR's alone gave me mid 12's in mine. It's even a drop top.
Also, as a disclaimer, I don't hate Japanese cars. My car before the Cobra was a WRX with an APS turbo, APS FMIC, Greddy Exhaust, Perrin DownPipe, APS UpPipe, Tuned by GRD in Chi. I have a little experience in AWD cars.
I love the Evo, just don't go around bashing something you obviously don't have clue one about.

I personally dont think it is a very impressive car. Yes i have drove one before, so i dont want to hear anyone B*itch this is my opinon
Also to clear things up. Im talking about a race from a dig on the street (closed road of course) The race would be up to about 100mph. Maybe this will clear some up. Honestly who races past 100mph... Thats not 2 fun for me.

Even if you do these mods, it will only cost the Cobra owner $150 to jump back ahead of you easily.
