Sorry to hear the bad news. Maybe for your type of launching the Sti does have a strong clutch. I have heard of them having problems too.
Anyway my Evo has 7200 miles, not one problem. Love it more every day.

the true problem is, buying cars to make them faster is the problem. Im done with this car tuning crap, its for kids that got money to throw away. i rather sit in a luxury car with nice wheels and a nice interior with a hot girl rather that racing and paying for broken parts. its time to grow up.
Damn ur Stock time was 12.994 WOWWWW thats the fastest ive seen maybe it is possible to get that FAST of a time on a stock EVO but.... the consquences are what u are facing with now .. and seriously u think we believe you launched ur car 15 times total to get a 1.7 60 foot time and 12.9 on a stock evo takes A LOOOOOT of practice man.

I have 13k miles on my evo and about 5k miles on it with the new turbo kit (running about 400hp to the wheels) and never a clutch problem and never a TC problem (both stock)...why You ask? its all in the driving. Don't launch it..plain and simple. If you drag it, then its gonna be screwed. If you wanna launch it like a mothafugga, then your gonna run into issues, no matter what clutch you put on it. Sorry, but thats the brutal truth. If you change your clutch to ahigher stage, then your TC is gonna be your weak link...its a chain reaction. When you have a strong *** clutch and stock TC, then your clutch will last all day! but your TC will suffer..and vice versa...beef up your whole transmission system equally, and your cool. If you wanna launch it alot (15 times is alot on stock ish) then reap the consequences. You posted, now there's my 2 cents. Good luck to you
ZeroFrost,
I can't tell you what do do nor can I call you a liar when discussing how you have treated your car. I wasn't there and I won't pretend to be. But in my experience, The evo is fragile as hell when you are talking about the drag strip. I race my car (well i did) but never on a drag strip. The TC and the clutch aren't built for that. I raced my car both on the track and in the backroads late at night. I went for 45,000 miles and I went thru a lot of problems with it. None like what you are saying.
I never blew a TC nor did I have any issues with the car other than the clutch slipped a little bit near the end of my ownership. I went thru the P0300 issues and all that entailed. I had an issue with the LSD acting funny and causing a little too much slide when i put a lot of horizontal G's on the car. I used the car for what it was made for. And I drove it hard.
I am very impressed with the performance of my Evo and I am looking forward to the Evo IX being released. I can recommend that you take a professionally licensed racing course if you choose to get into another Evo. I took one and found it very inspirational.
If you are planning to get a luxury car and you intend to drive it like a luxury car I recomend the Chrysler 300. It has a perfect 50/50 weight balance and it handles like a dream. Plus, you can throw some TV's in the headrest and some 24inch wheels on it and cruise in style. (but wait till next year, they are releasing a 4 door convertible model
)
If you do decide to go to the drag strip and attempt to dominate all the other cars at the expense of your drivetrain again, I suggest a domestic V8 due to the comparitive price of their replacement parts. Perhaps a mustang Cobra or Saleen. or a 69 Camaro if you can find one. best of luck with your choices of cars in the future, and remember, Certain cars are designed for certain things. This is why you don't see Honda Civics in WRC.

In think you need to adjust the nut behind the wheel. If you're drag racing and smoking clutches (which you are looking at your signature) the car isn't the problem. The clutch is supposed to be the weak link in the chain, you upped the power output (flash and MBC) and are beating on it hard (drag racing) and you're suprised that stuff is breaking?
