I guess people will have to continue to call me a wuss for my refusal to launch the car on the street. Sounds like since the track is not open you are out there putting down some smack on the streets. I have close to 100 drag launches at the track with over 340 whp with a Cusco twin w/o any problems with diff. However, my tranny is notchy but from the abuse i have inflicted on my car that is understandable. You need to put a LSD in the front and only launch at a track where you can induce a lil wheelspin. Racing any car can and will be expensive. You gotta pay to play and like someone has said before s hit breaks when it has been abused. I have abused for much longer and my conclusion is either I am lucky or you really beat the c rap out of your car.

let me see.....hmmm
the problem seems to be the driver u must be driving the $hit out of your car to destroy it that way, majority of evo owner don t have any problem with their cars. so if u abuse your car stop complaining, because every single things that happens to your car is your own damn fault. I hate people like you that can t drive for $hit, abuse the car, and then the car break on them, then they say the car is ****. If you treat your car right it will last a long time, there is a lot of people here with over 50000 miles on their cars with the stock clutch and they never damaged their TC either, and those people go to the track too.
Stop *****ing and learn how to drive

you wanna play you gotta pay... There are many drag racers on this board that know how to launch. Maybe you should learn how to launch the car differently.

i dont care how you respond to this but. go buy an STI and beat the **** outta it like your doing the EVO and you will have the same problem. the car is not bad it just has a bad owner. learn to take care of your cars and they will last. Nothing is build to be beat on everday 24/7 365 period. Sell ur car and leave this forum. Good luck to you sir.

no we are not, u abuse the evo it will break that s it, it s a STREET car not a race car of any kind, if u race it u have to expect things to break. I amracing mine and if **** strat to break i know i am the only one to blame, if u wanna play u gotta pay THAT's it!!

Uh, yea, go buy a honda then and complain when the same **** happens. I am still on my stock clutch with over 20,000 miles and ive abused it. If you're putting in after market clutches, its def your driving and dont say it isnt. That's like saying you shift at 9k and have no idea why your engine died at 30k miles. Come on guy.

38k miles on the OE clutch/tranny/TC/rear end... last Mustang Dyno sheet 333whp and 317 ft lbs of torque at 4000rpm. My oldest kid is only 13, so I can't be a Grandpa... and the car best drives s-i-d-e-w-a-y-s if you know what I mean. My clutch has just started to slip every once in a while, so I'd say it is a pretty solid piece of SHlT your talking about here...

RE: Original post on this thread.

My EVO is indestructible. I have about 12,000 miles on it, of which probably 3,000 are on ractracks. You can beat on it all day and nothing breaks. Either you got a lemon, which can happen with any car, or you have no idea how to drive it.

All it takes is one really hard launch with a lot of hp and bye bye TC. I had an 03 EVO pushing 330 whp and had no problem for about 7K miles. I let a good friend of mine drive the car alone and when I got the car back the clutch was shot and so was the TC. Do you think it was driver error or Mitsubishi's fault that I modded my car and allowed some *** to launch my car. Before my car was launched by my friend I had never lauched because I knew that the TC would go.

Guess Zero is not a dragracing Hero! Kind of like when guys were buying up DSM's years ago, modding them up. Sidestepping the clutch and breaking trannies, axles. Then crying the cars were junk. DSM's have a reputation as being unreliable and drivetrains that fall apart if pushed over stock. Which is not entirely true. Have owned 10 DSM's, four ran 11's and never broke a transmission or axle. Sure clutches wear out. Now I have two EVO's. Younger guys today don't seem to have the manual transmission driving skills of yesteryear. The local EVO group out here meets up at the track. Its comical to watch. Some use the clutch pedal as an RPM modulator for quite a ways down the track from the start. Trying to get that elusive 60 ft time. The clutch smells in the pits is what keeps clutch companies in business.
As for EVO T/C's, many from the factory are shimmed improperly. If driven with care they will still last, noisey though. Put in a king kong clutch and they can come unglued. With any performance car, a person needs to check all fluids on a regular basis. From the looks of the rants and raves on this EVOM board, complaining about sub par quality EVO's. A lot of people could have made different car choices. Instead of buying up all the EVO's, modding them like crazy, then dumping them on the used car market, half used up.
Where was it ever printed that a high performance car is low up keep?
