These cars are nothing but problems from the door and thats why mitsu is going out of business.

you wanna play you gotta pay... There are many drag racers on this board that know how to launch. Maybe you should learn how to launch the car differently.

The Evo is a GREAT car but you guys are making it out to be God's gift to humanity!!
We all know that is far from the truth.

RE: Original post on this thread.
My EVO is indestructible. I have about 12,000 miles on it, of which probably 3,000 are on ractracks. You can beat on it all day and nothing breaks. Either you got a lemon, which can happen with any car, or you have no idea how to drive it.

All it takes is one really hard launch with a lot of hp and bye bye TC. I had an 03 EVO pushing 330 whp and had no problem for about 7K miles. I let a good friend of mine drive the car alone and when I got the car back the clutch was shot and so was the TC. Do you think it was driver error or Mitsubishi's fault that I modded my car and allowed some *** to launch my car. Before my car was launched by my friend I had never lauched because I knew that the TC would go.

Guess Zero is not a dragracing Hero! Kind of like when guys were buying up DSM's years ago, modding them up. Sidestepping the clutch and breaking trannies, axles. Then crying the cars were junk. DSM's have a reputation as being unreliable and drivetrains that fall apart if pushed over stock. Which is not entirely true. Have owned 10 DSM's, four ran 11's and never broke a transmission or axle. Sure clutches wear out. Now I have two EVO's. Younger guys today don't seem to have the manual transmission driving skills of yesteryear. The local EVO group out here meets up at the track. Its comical to watch. Some use the clutch pedal as an RPM modulator for quite a ways down the track from the start. Trying to get that elusive 60 ft time. The clutch smells in the pits is what keeps clutch companies in business.
As for EVO T/C's, many from the factory are shimmed improperly. If driven with care they will still last, noisey though. Put in a king kong clutch and they can come unglued. With any performance car, a person needs to check all fluids on a regular basis. From the looks of the rants and raves on this EVOM board, complaining about sub par quality EVO's. A lot of people could have made different car choices. Instead of buying up all the EVO's, modding them like crazy, then dumping them on the used car market, half used up.
Where was it ever printed that a high performance car is low up keep?
