These cars are nothing but problems from the door and thats why mitsu is going out of business.

Nice 1/4mile times in your sig [runs away]

Try using the Evo for what it was actually meant to do and you won't have a problem. If you want to drag race buy a camaro/mustang (cheaper to mod and better results with slicks)

I have raced my 03 evo for two years, gone through many sets of tires, but NEVER had a clutch or transfer case problem. I am at 31,000 miles now, still running strong with zero mechanical failures. I would say the car is tough beyond belief. That being said, many Evo owners are morons in how they treat and drive their cars. Most if not all problems experienced by Evo owners are brought on by themselves.

you know after my first clutch i changed my thinking.... and this 2nd clutch has lasted waaaaaaaaaaay longer and i have had alot more fun with the car not having to worry about it breaking. I think your problem would be those 1/4 mile runs......

However, I'm beginning to think that most of these problems are due to abuse, poor driving, constant 5k lauches, drag racing etc.
In all fairness, the 2003 Evos with the viscous center diff and open front diff DO have had an inordinately high number of transfer case failures...and it's not always easy to attribute that to driver error. Mine died shortly after I had the fluid flushed by the dealer. They gave me a new (not rebuilt) transfer case, and that died after about 500 miles of pure highway driving. This is NOT normal!

Even though Mitsu never formally acknowledged that the 2003 transfer case/front diff system was inherently weak, they've gone ahead and put the ACD center diff and front LSD on all 2005 Evos. You never hear of any transfer case failures anymore. This tells you something!

Keep in mind that the Evos in the rest of the world have had the ACD and front LSD for several generations. This seems to be a much stronger design than the fragile system the USDM Evos got stuck with when they hit the market in 2003. I would have absolutely NO reservations about buying a 2005 Evo .

i have to admit, i was in the same boat as your Zero, but it looks like you're on a battleship.

i had to replace my clutch at 12k miles.

24 hour fitness and the strengthening of the left side of my body is what makes this EVO grow more and more powerful everytime i step foot in it.

hehehee, I was thinking the same exact thing. This guy's obviously a complete dumba$$. I have over 25K on mine and so far I have had to replace the brake pads, oooooohhhhh, what a piece of $hit!!!!!! For the retard who said an STi would fix the problem has never owned a Subie. I'd rather have Mitsu driveline worries than boxer motor issues.

i've launched my car about dozens of time, tracked, did everything.

my tc's fine. it's drivers fault 80% of the time, 20% of the time, it's the tranny's fault.

I don't know which this one is

What the f*ck that you did to your EVO? 4 clucthes and T-Case blown? I abused my EVO by taking it to the drag and track almost every months and it never fail on me like that. It got over 30k miles now and I'm still loving it every moment.

Do you know that you suppose to put the clucth pedal in before shift? :-)
