Go to any race and u will see race cars breaking all over the place. The winner goes back to the shop and preps the car for the next race.Beat on your EVO and it will break. 12000 miles 4 track days and no problems.
Guys and maybe girls that drag race there EVo and expect Mitsu to fix is THE reason this car did not make it to the US untill now.
The rest of the world had this car years ago but not the US because 80% of Americans live a1/4 mile at atime
THe EVO is a car not a dragster. It wil get 0-60 make that tight left hander hit 110 before braking real hard for that chicane . Doing all this has good or better than cars costing alot more than the EVO.
The rest of the world is saying maybe they should stop sending the EVO to the US

AND the 20% of saying please don't

These cars are nothing but problems from the door and thats why mitsu is going out of business.

Four clutches in 14,000 miles? I'm surprised your transfer case held up that long. Props to your transfer case. Thumbs down to you.

I wouldnt be so hard with the poor kid.....Mitsu does market this car as strong as a bred rally vehicle; it would stand to reason that many people would take this car and begin their rally fantasy lol I would come to this conclusion, Mitsu quality assurance is not the best in the motoring business probably due to profiteering/production efficiency (hence cost cutting lol so we have cars that come out with small tolerance differences/defects. When we drive our cars hard, we can exploit these defects and cause failure in drivetrain related units.

I think their may also be a portion of us that have modifications installed incorrectly due to one's inexperiance or the dealership/shop not being very knowledgeful of the vehicle.

This can be a touchy subject to some but you have to remember it is still a car...meaning nothing is perfect and failure may occur. good luck!

I dont know if anyone will agree with me on this but here goes I personlly think mitsu made the clutch weak on purpose for poeple like you. Yes it suck that happend to you same this will happen to every car. The reason for the crap clutch is a good reason they knew poeple would want to make the car faster thats the way we are . Making the clutch weak saves the tranny. Clutches are cheaper than TC ' s. Cheap clutch = Save TC strong clutch sometimes = broken TC ' s remeber its AWD alot more will break if you drag it. I got 20,000 miles on the stock clutch dropped it twice burned it smelled it still works fine. No problems with car at all. Its a 03 and Im happy its you sorry not hatin. MY 2 CENTS. Oh ye MITSU really does need to get with rpogram and do a PERFORMACE shop this like SUBY does tho. GET IN TO IT MAKE SOME MONEY OFF THE TUNERS MISTU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

either you have a lemon... or, you're the lemon man... sorry, it's not like i'm purposely trying to be mean here, but, that's the best way to put it... Is this your first stick??? How many years experience do you have with a stick if you had in the past??? Is this the first Hi-po vehicle you ever owned??? and lastly... If you drag it, it will break... it's not a dragster by any means, and it's one of the last things it was intended to do... you don't side step the clutch by chance with a high rev do you??? that would be the killer... slipping at least gets the parts moving slightly taking the shock down a lil' bit, which adds up big in a car like this...... even though, i still have yet to launch this car... i know it's not designed for dragging so i won't even bother... but i do drive very very spirited at times on some back roads/mountain passes, and, some track time... never smelled the clutch once yet... brakes, yes, hehe... clutch no...

truely & honestly you just suck at driving. 4 clutches & a transfer case already gone. honestly i hope these werent stock clutches you were using to replace the other ones already blown from your stupidity. that would tell you to upgrade. second off the evo isnt a drag car.. you want a drag car go get a mustang or camaro & work with one of those. personally its all in the driver. dont launch the evo at 7k.... if you are.. im truely shocked it lasted this long. here ya go though sell ur mods & trade in ur evo to an sti & it wont be all bad. as for the bling bling rides with the 20's & all.... it will still be the same...

When you launched the car, what RPM did you launch it at. I can't believe no one has asked this.

I plan on doing 3300-3500rpm launches, maybe lower, but definitely not higher. I want to be in 12s without having to launch it =p

you guys

granted that it sounds like there was some driver error involved, but you guys are beating this poor guy into oblivion with your flames.

The Evo is a GREAT car but you guys are making it out to be God's gift to humanity!!

We all know that is far from the truth.

He definately drives it hard...look hes claiming a 12.9 stock time. And modded dont have **** to do with it, Yes, its a little harder on the clutch, but I have added a good 75 hp, working on 23K and no probs. Before you buy you kill your 5th clutch, take the money you are already saving for the 6th clutch and buy some driving lessons.
