I'm seriously thinking of getting the EVO if it comes
Can you guys give me more info on the release of the Lancer EVO? I've been the biggest Honda guy, but if the EVO comes I want it. AWD, turbo...it will be the only car I need for daily driving AND racing.
I need some approx numbers:
1) How many are being released in the US? Release date?
2) What will be the pricetag? (I've heard under $30k)
3) How much HP will the US version have? (0-60, 1/4 mile, slalom, etc)
4) Honestly...how well does the EVO handle? Could I get on the roadcourse with the current suspension?
Thanks in advance.

1) we don't officially know, but 5000 has been rumored. No date yet, we will hopefully know tomorrow or monday.
2) between $24k and $30k ofcourse those are rumored as well.
3) I have heard 260 to 280. It will be detuned, but will be ready to be re-tuned. Again all rumored. 1|\4 mile is supposed to be in the mid to low 12's I think.
4) take a look @ some of the video's in the multimedia section. I think it is one of the best handle cars out there. thats just IMHO though, as I have never driven one.

Most of those are rumours though so just sit and cross your fingers for some news over the next couple of weeks!
Best Motoring tested a JDM EVO7RS in the 400M (just ~8 feet longer than a 1/4 mile) dash and it came in at 12.9 or so.
USDM model specs are all wild speculation right now IMO. Hey relax, if you have your money you have options.

If we get the same motor and Tranny as the JDM models.
The rest depends on how much money you have.
Just think if you have a real low 12sec 1/4 street car on pump gas. How many car out there will touch you in the 1/4 mile. Around here all the import4 are scared to race if you have a low telve car.

I have a question for the possible new EVO owners
Do you think theft/vandalism will be a big issue for EVO owners?
It's well known that the engine in the ITR (B18C5) fits easily into a number of other Honda/Acuras (Civics, Del Sols, other model Integras, etc). The swap is fairly easy if you know how to use a wrench or two. I also own a Civic hybrid myself with an Integra GSR swap (B18C1) that me and some friends did ourselves.
Anyway, I'm very curious if you guys fear what us ITR owners do. Our cars are a *major* target for thieves. Vandalism has always been a problem as well, but I still haven't figured that out (could it be the domestic owners??).
I have been thinking of possibly making the switch for these very reasons to a Lancer EVO (if it makes it here).

Theft for joy rides likely. But for part NO. What other car can this motor and tranny fit. Unless they want boost gauge ot electronics.
I can't think of too any cars that parts will swap in.
For a Integra ITR every honda boy looks at it and there part that will fit right on the car.
I own a CRX HF with a B16a too.

Insurance is not even a issue with me.
I insured my Twin turbo Supra for $600 a year. It can't be anyhire than the WRX or a Supra.
I'm a agent and a few of my friend have there car insured at my agency and it about $400 every six month.
That is the rate for were I live.

The engine would not fit in any DSM type car. The engines are on opposite sides of the cars and the motor mounts are completely different.
Now the EVO engine might fit in a current US Lancer and it would also fit in the Eclipse 4cyl as well.

I doubt US Spec could touch 12s (high mid or low) in the 1/4 miles..
JDM RS does it in 12.9x... Stock US Spec will have less power,
lower octane gas, no front mount int-cooler, maybe a different
turbo(!?)... it should be much slower.. hopefully mid-low 13's..
but as long as the engine internals & tranny are exactly the same
nothing can't be fixed by aftermarket parts...
