you should get injectors and a pump with the safc. then you can actually tune timing into your car.

I agree that adding injectors will make a world of difference with an SAFC. I used to have a stock ECU with 660s and just an SAFC. The car felt (no dyno or track results) about as fast as it does now with a mail-in ecu reflash. But you can't get those sort of results unless you tune it with a wideband. Spend the extra $350 to get a wideband and you'll get better results and a much safer tune.

How can you possibly control timing if you have larger injectors and a fuel pump?

The more you pull fuel the more you advance timing. If you have larger injectors then you will be pulling more fuel and adding more timing = more power. SAFC is safe if you are tuning with a wideband and scan tool. If you just start just plugging in numbers that you get off the internet, you are taking a big chance of overdoing a good thing.

the safc is a piggyback... so if you replace the injectors and the pump you're running a more rich and you use the safc to trick the ecu and lean it out, the ecu thinks you're getting by with less fuel cuz it doesn't know any better and you get a timing advance bonus cuz that's what the ecu likes to do.
