No one is gonna answer this topic the way it was ment to be answered. First off its a evo messageboard, so people are going to be overwelmingly in favor of that. People are'nt looking at all the factors. stock for stock power wise the STi is better. Now depending on how much you want to mod, that could change, but you also got to consider that not everyone wants to mod. No one's even mentioned the interior. For the people that are using it as a daily driver, then I think the STi looks so much better inside, plus has features such as climate control and a 6 disk cd changer and it blows away the interior to the evo. Of course I personally think that the evo's extorior is much better however, I dont think the STi's is ugly, just not as good. It all depends on what you want the car for, when you are deciding which to get. Im actually in that boat right now, Im either getting an 05 STi, or Im waiting for the evo 9. Which one I decide will be based off what Im using it for, not specs. Decide what you want, then decide which will deliver the most in that area.

 

Sti is an excellent car. Know myself personally as I have owned both an MR and an STI. Owned a 2004 STi with reflash, exhaust and totally redone suspension from the ground up. In a straight line, my sti could smoke an evo. Loved the low end-torque which is missing on the evo (1X supposed to have more low end torque with more linear power band). Sold my STi and bought an Evo MR. Hands down the stock MR handles better than my totally modified STI. If you are looking for straight line power and brute force go STI. If you want handling and finesse go evo. Of course, if you are planning to mod you could have the best of both worlds with mods in the motor and the stock suspension the evo could easily smoke an STI on a straight line as well as out handle it. I do agree that the interior of the STI is nicer (dash) but the seats suck (recaros in evo are better). Stock short STI shifter in STI is better also. Both cars are superb, just depends what you are looking for, ferrari vs. 1969 454 Camaro.

 

Exactly, you got to look at every aspect of the car not just stats, and decide what it is that you want the car to do. Are you racing? If so drag or rally? If not is it a daily driver? you got to look at all these things then decide which is best. They are both great cars it just comes to personal prefrence of what you like/want/need.

You are a ****. On what criteria are you basing this on? Have you seen how lame the gauges look in the MR?... and i am not talking about just the small gauges in front of the driver, but the 3 guages onthe lower part of the center console look like they were installed by Toys 'r' us... puhlease.

Then there are the seats.... reputable mfcg. but that purple/black checker pattern on the seats look like a 12 year old designed them. Sit in the STi and absorb how much nicer looking their 05 seats look. They adjusted the colors so that they look much richer than the 04 model looked. Furthermore, though both interiors are "simple" the STi is far better put together than the evo!

The EVO has it in performance and mod-ability but please do not even dare think it looks better than the sti.

 

LOL I still don't think people get it. You don't know what the 06 STi even looks like, so STOP comaring it to the EVO IX. Afterall, this whole thread is about comparing these two cars, one of which we know absolutely nothing about. Unless you work for Subaru, the only thing you probably know about the 06 is what the internet rumors tell you. Wanna know where those come from, along with those pictures that are obviously 04 STis that are photoshopped? They come from Japanese magazines with the reputability of National Enquirer. You know, that magazine you see on the rack at the store, that advertises about aliens and gorilla boys being found? The white one posted earlier looks like an 04 STi with legacy lights photoshopped on it.

We can't even be sure what the motor will be like. Afterall it's been confirmed that all WRX's are getting 2.5Ls.

 

True, the STi seats look way better, but I'm not looking at the seats when they're holding me in as I take a curve at 100. They simply don't hold you in. It depends if you're going for the look, or if you just want them to be functional.

And looks are subjective. He can think what he wants. That's the whole point of an opinion.
