Furthermore, though both interiors are "simple" the STi is far better put together than the evo!

To each their own, some people love the bus stop shelter intake on the STI's hood...
On that subject, I really hope the new STi design (whatever it may be) goes to a front mounted intercooler, both for aesthetic reasons and efficiancy (i.e. no more heatsoak.)

I was already stuck in this decision.
I'll let you know, the Subie guys dish out ALOT of money for little gain in their mods. Modding that car is tricky as well, due to their valve timing technology in the Boxer engine.
But my biggest gripe is little bang for the buck when modding.
The Evo is a reliable powerplant that can give you plenty for little cash.
Evo for me when the IX comes out. The IX will also have a revised 5 speed, different from last year's VIII.

I already own a Evo VIII now buying a Evo IV can't believe I am going to own two Evo's mainly because getting it for a really good price. So this shows you how sick these cars are. This one is stock to very excited.
now that this threads already been bumped:
The STI's Top mount intercooler incurs more power less due to heat soak
STI's Boxer engine is much harder to work on, be ready to take off your front wheels just to access the spark plugs.
Buying 2 headers and 4 cams is very expensive for the same power gains you could get on the evo for half the price.
The STI will always have more turbo lag than the Evo. I mean damn, the exhaust gases have to travel through an uppipe before it gets to the turbine of the turbo.
I've sat in the back of an STI, it was cramped as hell
A stock STI only runs about 14 to 15 psi of boost
An Evo runs 21 psi of boost max at 8.8:1 compression ratio, that's an engineering marvel right there. The STI only runs at 8.4:1 with low boost
The 4G63 is a much more proven platform and IMO a better 4 cylinder engine. The fastest 4 cylinder in the world runs a 4G.
Probably the only good things about the STI is the water cooled VF39 turbo which does not require a turbo timer. The Driver controlled center differential, and the 6 speed transmission. As far as looks, bleghh

I'll take both. I like the way subies handle on snow. And the new ones handle just as good as the evo x with better interior. But when it comes to power, the subie requires more $$$ compared to the evo. STi's retain thier value better than the evo and have a better crash test rating, which is more important to some people than power. I wish they had a car with evo 9 front end, jdm evo 9 rear, 2011 sti wide body, interior, and 6speed, evo engine and turbo and both evo x and 2011 sti handling.
hahah now ur asking cross breed. Ive always loved sti"s mainly hawkeyes but there motors are just junk. The pistons are too soft and they have poor oiling systems and cant handle power unless u dump 7500-10k into them.ill take my evo any day with 475 on the stock block and feel somewhat more comfortable then a sti with 400 stock.
