A couple ?'s
Hey guys I jsut signed up for this site cause I just paid for my new Lancer Evo VIII a couple days ago. I am gonna be driving it by March. But anways until now I have driven a 2002 civic thats pretty much as modded as possible and a 92' Integra LS. But im excited about driving the Evo. I am completely new to turbo of any kind so I am wondering what the best mods are to push it from the stock 271 hp to about 310 hp or so. If anyone can help I would appreciate it a ton, and any links to parts for the new EVO would be helpful. Thanks alot.
um to push to 310 i think is gonna be asking alot. their has been talk of a full exhaust system to push it to 300 if thats what you desire, but frankly you are buying and already hooked up ride for the most part..
in my opinion if i had the evo Viii which i'am working to get one i wouldn't tinker too much but that's me of course a couple of show things and full exhaust and let the rest of the car speak for it's self.
p.s. if i drive to WI can i take it for a spin

someone said this before in a different thread, but he said u should actually drive the car first then think about if u want to mod it or not.
but if u're just askin out of interest, then someone else answer this question..

To get to 310hp, which is around 15% of gain in power output, you will need a chip upgrade (to turn up the boost level, and fuel supply), a better downpipe, intake and exhaust to exhance air flow....that should get you there...
I would also suggest you get used to the car before doing any mods...

On the Evo 6.5, with a full intake and a full 3" exhaust system(from turbo to tailpipe), you can get about 340hp.
Also, the higher octane gas, the better the performance. On the Evo, the gas makes a big difference.
The HKS intake isnt that expensive but the full exhaust system costs about $1500.
Oh yea, dont know how the CPU functions on the Evo8. Maybe it will different.
Lan Evo's right. Get used to the car before you mod it.
After you mod it, your warranty's gone too.

Dude, I'm in line to get the only evo at the
dealer in town. The salesman here went to a tach briefing given by
and the buy there told him the evo VIII will actually put out around 300 hp and 300 ft lb torque.
is underrating the evo for insurance purposes.

well, not that i don't believe that....or it's a matter of wanting to believe it....cause i do.....we will just have to wait till the thing is dynoed.....now i read a thread on here about the evo being dynoed....but it seemed more of a math equation for finding the actual wheel HP....we'll see. I wouldn't doubt mitsu would do that though.

I am thinking "urban legend" here. If that is true, why are the R&D and C&D track reports in line with 260 to 270 hp? They can't launch an AWD apparently, but 13.8 and 14.1? Those are not 300 hp times, unless of course I was driving.
Just doesn't make sense.
