PUMPING GAS with engine on

i wouldnt recommend running your car while pumping gas... is there a good reason to do it other than trying to save 60 seconds by pumping while your tt is running? (plus you can hit a button on your tt to turn the car off)

IMO i don't think it's a big deal to leave the car running. environment regulations might have something about it, but i know how screwed up those are. I am a chemist and I am in charge of waste and disposal among other things in my lab.
Have done it on every car I have owned since I have been 16. No CEL ever, the Evo is the only car that actually seemed to get mad when I do it and was about to take it to the dealer for the stupid stumbling problem when filling but evidentally its another normal accorance. If your worried about static touch a light poll near the pump. They are always earth grounded.
I used to do it all the time with the gas cap jammed in the handle to keep the pump running (in MA they remove the catches on pump handles). For some reason though, it seems to trip the vapor recovery system on the pump and repeatedly clicks off.
It got to be annoying and its easier just to shut it down and the pumps work fine.
