Port and Polishing the head
Porting and polishing may or may not be productive. What does the shop doing the work on your head have to say about it? That is a chunk of change for a head job, they should have at least a solid idea about what their work will do for you. This kind of work really needs to be part of a well thought out and proven plan. Your choice of cams, manifolds, tubo and other considerations will come into play. It goes without saying that this is not a reversable mod.
Porting and polishing the head wont reap you a tone of hp do to the fact that youll have to P&P the exhaust man, TB, and hot side, and Hone the intake man ... and 2k.. damn i can get mine done for 500...

I have seen P&P jobs move the hp band up to where it was unusable. I don't think it is a early mod, this is for when you have a REALLY built engine with upgraded turbo, intake, headers, crank, rods, pistons, et al.
A mild cleanup and polish will help mid and upper ranges some on a relitively stock motor, but a 2k job is way big.

im building a race head as well and the shop is charging me 1200 total on labor. Installing cams, cam gears, valve springs and retainers, 1mm oversized valves and honing the cylinder head, head bolts, ported exhaust and intake.
You think im getting a good deal?
