wow, amazing how ppl on this forum underestimate the STI, Brute power such as drag racing on the highway the sti has the evo, if your laying down 257 whp your probley still not at the same power as the stock STI.

 

Probably so...... BTW, is that 330 whp on a DD dyno? My car is only slightly modified (catback & XEDE)... It would put down around 275~280 in a Dynojet...

Also man if he is drafting you then that doesnt count. My friend got a 250WHP GTI and will keep up with me when he is drafting. he doesnt PULL on me but he doesnt get left either.

 

I dont understand what you expected to happen....

Any decently fast car can keep up with an Evo acclerating from 60 IN TOP GEAR, especially when they are TRYING to race you and your just cruising

 

Yeah -- grcygetr is right. You didn't loose -- in top gear I wouldn't expect to pull on anyone.

 

An 05 EVO with custom tunning and just an exhaust will have more WHP than stock STI. The big difference is the TQ with STI vs EVO. Top End the Evo has more WHP with the bigger turbo.

 

Which catback did you get? Also, good choice on deciding not to push it in traffic ...

 

An idiot? Wow, that's very strong language ...... As I said, I was not really wanting to race or nothing like that. It was mostly curiosity to see if he'd drop back there.... He probably downshifted to pass and was actually wanting to show off his car. He certainly had plenty of opportunity to prepare. I don't realy think I was an idiot for not downshifting. Sure, I could have accelerated more smartly if I had been in 4th or even 5th, but that's undoubtedly in the "racing" department

silverevo8, i think i understand where you are coming from. you really did not want to race but you just tested the STI to see if he was going to do something. but you cant put the title of the thread as "got reeled by an sti" if you were not racing. imo

 

I have an old VRS SS 3" catback left over from my '03 EVO VIII. I should probably install the downpipe and a HF cat as well. That would probably get me in the 265~270 DD whp (300+ dynojet WHP).......

Yeah, you are right about the not playing in traffic. It's like running with scissors You are bound to get in serious trouble if they spot you and catch you. Besides, it's foolish, pointless and dangerous......
