I am as confused as the heavy traffic. Wouldnt 6th gear in the MR pit him at around 2000rpms? Way out of the power band. I mean after i got a few bolt ons and a gto came up on my butt, i wanted to see what 5th gear could do. He crept on me pretty nice. Then i dropped it into 4th and he couldnt keep up.

This thread is like saying, i took a poo and everytime i had a bowel movement i squeezed my cheeks together...when i looked back the poo was right on my ***!

Embarassment not because the STi stayed with him, reeled him in, or whatever, but because of this sorry excuse for a thread.

 

Well you know for sure the STi driver probably started an equally lame thread on a Subaru board somewhere telling everyone how he walked this guy in an EVO. They are probably all chiming in about how the Subaru has more horse power and is faster, blah blah blah. Now one of us is going to have to go out there and find the thread, and explain to them that this guy didn't down shift, and so it doesn't count etc.

OK, it appears that many of the people are expressing to you that it is no surprise at all that you were not able to pull away from maybe a stock STI with a slightly modded EVO. However, the way that they might have expressed their opinions might be a bit harsh. Indeed there is no need for name calling and such.

I think a lot of people here are just expecting a bit of a more interesting story. Since MOST evo owners already knows that when you step on the pedal, an evo in it's highest gear going 55, will not out run even a WRX in lower gear not to mention the STI. So that is why they are flaming you.

 

If I was looking to dust off someone just by stepping on the gas I'd be looking at cars with big V8s. That auto C6 I tried at the GM test drive comes to mind. Awesome! Not that I wouldn't like my evo to do that, but it's really not that kind of car. You have to work to drive it really fast. That's nice though, because I'm never looking at the speedo,( can't see it anyway), and going..."gee I'm doing 100+mph, it sure doesn't feel like it".

 

stock sti ~ 220ish on a DD. You = 252 so you would have him if you had been at the strip and didn't suck at driving.

rediculous thread!!!! why would you not downshift when a car is trying to catch up? unless you dont wanna race him. The MR is not that fast compared to a GSR or RS. They have the same hp. you only have 6 gears. It looks like you think that youre MR is the GOD of all evo's....haha!!

I have gone against plenty of STI's stock and modified. STI's do not impress me at all. I have gone against almost 10 of them and none but 1 has given me a good race. My friend has one with TBE, header/uppipe, mbc,fmic, and intake and i took him by a car almost a car and a half when i still had STOCK dp and running filthy rich from 5k to redline. We went after i installed my Helix dp and it was a lot worse, and my clutch is slipping also . The day that i get beat by one, i will think differently. I love my Evo
