My 75,000 mile review - long
Sorry I was a bit unclear before
1) yes it is actual 3M material, he's actually ordering the kit from somewhere else
2) he's not doing the entire hood, just the front part leading up to the vent
3) the material will cost about $514 and the rest is labor, he said according to the difficulty rating listed for the material it's about a 3-4 hour job. The kit will include front part of hood, front bumper, side mirrors, two sides of the windshield, side runners and maybe 3-4 inches from front of the roof.
4) he give life time warranty on the bra, both yellowing and peeling.
5) I live in a relatively small town, I will shop around a bit but I doubt I can find anything cheaper, this guy was actually recommanded by a coworker and my coworker said this guy does pretty good work.

Thanks for the write up.
I was wondering though...In the service manual it suggests replacing the serpentine belt at 30k, have you done that, and if so is it a terribly difficult thing to do?

It's a layer of clear plastic like material that sticks to your bumper/hood/wherever you want it on your car, it's used to help prevent those little scratches caused by small rocks that come up from the ground or falls off a truck. The more traditional leather bra would eventually trap sand/small rocks over time and mess up the paint job on the car, and not mentioning how disgusting it can get if you don't clean often. The clear bra is made to stay on the car (kinda like window tints), the average life spam (quoted by the guy who does the install) is about 7 years. You can take it off at anytime, but it cannot be re-attached. Hope that helps.

very nice review. goes to show that our cars have good reliability if maintained properly.
have you changed the timing belt urself or by a mech? i've done timing belt and water pump on my teg, wondering how hard it is on the evo, since i have full shop manual and engine layout is similar. it seems like the space between engine and the wall is smaller than on the teg, so i'm concerned about room to work in. if u had it changed by a shop, how much was it?
thanks!

Hey man very good read!!
About #14....Evo struts
I have been warrentied twice already for my front struts, btu my question is, does that happen to the car when you change to full coilovers or other after market ones?
I too do alot of driving and these thumping sounds developed pretty quick. Always on the driver's side...
thanks

Mr. Tech,
I suggest you do a search.........there are posts where some members have reported that installing a bit of rubber hose in the suspension (i believe on the upper part of coil) will quite the thumping.
