Well Im 25 and I got out of the Marines after 5 years at 23 and I can say is there's no way these guys are in the military E-5 and less affording an Evo. They either got mommy and daddy to help them, or they're eatin roman noodles and working at nights to make some money on the side.

Anyway, I work for the same electronics calibrations lab for the Marine Corps that I worked at when I was enlisted....but this time as a civilian makin a hell of alot more money. LOL

I can understand that in Cali, but explain how you managed that in Wisconsin?

Well

When I was in the process of getting my 05, I offered the dealer $37K cash out the door for an 05 MRand he said forget it someone will give us $42K for it, and you know what? Someone did, a week later a Navy E-4 brought that car and paid $42K+ for it, unfricking believeable.

Tell me about it. When I was in the Corps, I just had an AWD DSM that was paid off, so that allowed me to mod the hell out of it and race, but there's no way in hell that I could have paid for a new Evo (or even slightly used), much less mod it and pay for insurance. I even picked up E-5 at 2yrs 10mos time in service, moved out into a house with some other NCOs, made MORE on my BAH than it cost me for rent, AND worked a 2nd job 20 hours a week. I didn't have a wife or kids to pay for like most of my fellow Marines, and I still wouldn't have been able to afford an Evo on that meager pay.

I now afford it easily, but only do minimal mods despite a household income over 175k.

Well, I'm 23 and work as a park technician. It doesn't sound like much but my duties are things only few people are capable of doing. Here's the ****ed up part, I make ~$67K a year. I'm in my last semester of college majoring in mechanical engineering and minoring in mathematics. The firms I have interviewed with are offering me a salary that will cause me to take a pay cut. Of course a few years down the line I will have doubled or possibly tripled my current income but still..........

a little bit more about myself above. i dont want to give exact numbers or figures. i am proud of what im doing. work is something i look forward doing everyday. its like a hobby (like how we like cars), i enjoy doing research and starting new businesses. i have just started a new business about 2 months ago which works along with the current business (like an add on service, that brings nice profits).

i recommend you guys to read "Rich Dad, Poor Dad" by RObert Kiyosaki. It is a really nice book. It truly describes how I think about financial literacy I have right now. If anyone wanna talk more about business, just send me a msg (remember, i enjoy business!).

I am planning now to jump into real estate (I have $$$ "sitting" in the bank, SITTING). I have to put it into action. I am still in the process of researching in real estate investing. i dont feel like investing $$$ into the car, for i feel that there are rather other better things to put $$$ into.

I have dropped out of school (school sucks!). I got accepted into UC Irvine (ICS Major, it is a 3.5 GPA major, something like Computer Science), however I got "C's" in all my calculus classes, and I also got accepted into UC San Diego (Computer science major again, 3.5 GPA major). UCI was offering me some $$$ (they were bribing me) to get into there, however i rejected it. the main reason why they accepted me is because my personal statement letter, in which i explained my goals. (i only have a 3.0 GPA, and i got "C" in all my calculus classes).

financial literacy goes back to the question "if i gave you $10,000, what would you do with it?" some people would buy a nice car, or buy a nice house, maybe buy some rims or go on vacation. maybe buy some nice clothes or go to vegas. if i were given 10k, i would invest it. make that money grow, then the profits, reinvest it, just goes around in circles. i dont mind driving an old corolla or living in an apartment. for God's sake i could of bought a ferrari if i wanted to (IF i had better credit however), but i rather took the evo.

being 19 years old, experience is my goal. i dont mind failing, losing money in businesses and investments. all whats important is that i learn from my mistakes. that is my goal. i look forward into jumping into stocks, REI, etc etc. whatever i can think of. in the future, i just wanna say to myself "been there, done that". everything ive been through, i wouldnt learn it from school. whats the point of taking history classes and art classes?

im going back to PI also sometime soon (hopefully when i get to invest and put some of my $$$ into action). i wanna go back before the HOT summer starts here, i hate it when it hits 90 degrees over here. i plan to stay in PI for a while and start some businesses there too.

hit me back a PM of your AIM or email add if you dont mind.
