120 in a 60 - No ticket

You cant make laws based on ideal conditions because ideal conditions do not exist except for in a controlled environment which highways are not. You think people should be able to illegal things as long as they are the only ones doing it? Thats absurd. YOU ARE WRONG.
You say 'the law is the law', and you imply your justified simply because that's the way it is. However my entire argument is that the 'law' is wrong in this case. How hard would it be for the law to be adjusted? They do it all the time for other things. Here is a sample wording... "If someone speeds on a barren road, they can't be ticketed for speeding." Damn... that was *so* hard, and took me all of 10 seconds to write.

What gives me the right to say "HEY! YOU CAN'T DO THAT! NOW GOTO JAIL! ITS FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!" ?

Although you may not endanger someone else's life, your choices still effect other people. What about the ambulance that has to come pick the pieces of your body up off the road at 3am? What about the city workers who now have to repair the guardrail you plowed into at 120mph? It costs other people unnessecary time, stress, and money, all because you felt you had the right to drive fast.
Furthermore, writing laws contingent on varying circumstances opens the to door to way too much interpretation. A law cannot be subjective, this contradicts the whole basis for having laws in the first place. The virtually gives every officer the ability to interpret the law in their own way. Words like "barren road" are too vague to enforce fairly.
As far as speed limits being to low for today's vehicles (I believe someone else said this), that is simply absurd. Just because a car is capable of safely traveling at 100mph, does not mean the driver is capable of this feat. Can you fly an F14? That plane is capable of incredible things. By your logic, that must mean that everyone who wishes, can perform these manuevers.
Statistics show that less accidents occur if drivers drive at a safe speed. And there IS a correlary between speeding and reckless driving. Although one may be possible without the other, speeding encourages reckless driving, whether it's intentional or not. These are facts and to argue them is futile.

Well I got my first ticket in like 10 years a few weeks ago. I was doing 73 in a 65. How frickin lame is that?! I wasn't darting in and out of traffic. I wasn't tailgating anyone. Matter of fact, I was getting ready to get off the freeway when I saw the motorcycle cop coming up on me fast. I was like, "wonder who in the world he's after" turned out to be me. Cops can be sooo lame.
Then last week I got pulled over. The cop "couldn't see if I was wearing my seat belt" so he pulled me over and gave me a fix it ticket for tint that was too dark. He got a reading on his little machine of 25% and the limit is 35%.
I'm convinced it's not me that's getting pulled over, it's the car. The cops see that nice big tail and probably think I'm some young punk or something.

So speed does kill, and giving tickets is a good preventative measure.

One for 60 in a 45 (cop picked me out of a group of speeding cars) and another for 85 in a 75 (same thing but in New Mexico). Both times I was like, BAHH why me? The car of course. lol Oh well, not my lucky day I guess. I had a cop pace me on US60 @75 on his motorcycle as other traffic whizzed by me at around 80. Then he shakes his head at me as he finally goes by... Lame. People drive like maniacs on the freeway. If you go any slower than 80 on the highway you'll be towing some ******* from your rear bumper.
One thing that REALLY bothers me though is this new Seatbelt law. Not wearing a seatbelt should NOT be a primary offense with which to pull someone over.
