Bye Bye Evo, Hello RSX Type S
I think the RSX is a great car. Why not get an 05? I personally Think they look better. I really don't know why some people are sayin its "still a honda"...c'mon now. There are plenty of respectable hondas/acuras out there. The RSX type S has a crap load of potential!....well....if he was plannin to mod for power that is. Maybe its cause they're lookin at it from an evo driver's view. Well being the lancer es driver that I am...I say more power to ya. a type S is actually my ideal car at the moment. More power to ya! Hope to see you around the forums every now n then. Happy reving

Their probably giving you a good deal on an 04. I likesome of the refinements to the 05: (per hEdmunds.com)
For 2005, the RSX receives a number of changes. Horsepower for the Type-S is bumped up to 210, thanks to new high-performance camshafts, a larger intake duct, large diameter exhaust pipe and a high-flow catalytic converter. The six-speed transmission on the Type-S gets a lower final drive ratio and carbon synchronizers (instead of brass) on fifth and sixth gears for a smoother shift feel. Suspension upgrades on all models include a 7mm lower ride height, revised stabilizer bars and inversely wound springs. The steering and braking systems have been refined for better feel and response, and the Type-S gets a larger diameter front strut tower brace and 17-inch wheels. Front and rear fascias have also been redesigned, along with the side sills, grille, headlamps and taillamps. The Type-S gets a rear spoiler, as well. Inside, you'll find new deeply bolstered seats with thicker cushioning and new trim accents. Overall body rigidity has increased by 15 percent in front and 21 percent in the rear.

The type s is nice just put some bridgestone so3's on in place of the stock tires. You could add a greddy kit (7psi with the eo1 and emanage) like I did and put down close to 300hp or a cybernation kit. Check out honda-tech.com. Do some reading and make smart decisions on your upgrades. They also hold there value reaaly well.
Good luck, can't you get an srt for cheaper? Also the insurance may be cheaper.
Just think when your situation changes you can get the X.Get the stock body kit they offer, I loved mine, dont get the spoiler (waste in my opinion) you could add a type-r spolier for cheaper than the stock one.
Have fun you are the only one that needs to be happy.

It is a really tough decision for me, but after moving into my new place, I need to try to save more $ each month and the Acura will cost about half as much in car payments and hopefully be cheaper to maintain. Not to mention that the Evo becomes uncomfortable for me to drive for long periods because of my bad back (seats) and sore foot (no cruise control). Plus I have grown tired of the attention I attract from cops and ricers.
It is quite sad for me as I have been part of this community nearly from day 1 (of the USDM VIII), but I think it is the right time. I have met a lot of great people here, both online and in person at meets / installs and such. Plus I have learned so much- 2 years ago I had never driven a performance car but now I am able to do a lot of work myself and talk intelligently about the car. I will really miss the power and AWD (both on the track and in the winter), but 95% of the time, I just use the car to get to and from work.
I have a good bit of equity in my car and I am getting a tremendous deal on the Type S so the deal ends up making financial sense.
I also have a bunch of parts to take off before I trade it in. I'll post them in the For Sale section eventually, but if you want winter wheels + tires, Evo VII tails, Greddy Turbo Timer, or an Alpine head unit, let me know and we can talk.
thanks guys.
