I've heard so many negative things about those FM transmitters.

The best thing to do is change the headunit that has an AUX input...

fm transmitters are garbage especially if you live in a city. if anyone has replaced their infinity headunit id really like to know if there is an aux imput, or someother way to hook it up. someone must know...

Specifically made for OEM installs, Call them and ask them about the one that works on Mitsubishi/Dodge CD Changer head units.. I think there's another company that makes a changer adapter for Pioneer or Kenwood changers, which then can be more easily adapted to our head unit.

Personally I use the Dension DH100x head unit in my car instead of the stock head..

I did a lot of searching for an aux adapter that would plug into the cd changer input on the back of my infinity system, to no avail. Instead I bought an fm modulator that plugs directly in line (hard wired) with the FM antenna connection. Haven't had a chance to try it yet so don't know if it'll suck as bad as FM broadcast.

That dension one is nice looking.. Just remember, for better sound quality, the mp3's or whatever audio format you use have to be encoded at a higher bitrate to sound good. I rip all my CD's using 192kb/sec bitrate. It sounds near CD quality.. but no audio compression formats have got it quite perfect. If you have a 96kb/sec MP3, you can't just re-encode it to 192.. you have to start with the original source. I use dB amp music converter. It is the best simple program for encoding mp3's. Here is the link.

iTrips are okay. I used one until I changed my head unit to a Pioneer with the ip connection. The sound quality is way better.

I figure you want to keep your head unit, but other than Alpine and Pioneer ... you will miss out on sound quality with any FM modulator

You can mod the reciever for a headphone jack, then you can connect to your IPOD. Search the Mazda 3 forums, a bunch of the people have done it with the Mazda 3 systems...

<resurrect thread>

I am in need of this... I don't want to spend crazy money on Alpine + 13 mitsu adapters to get stock speakers/amp/sub to work with it, PLUS an iPod kit for it

If I can get an iPod adapter for the Infinity w/ the SSL package, please let me know!!!!
