I read that article too.

I am pretty surpised that in all the research I have done there is no testing to insure that the octane you are paying for is what you are getting. They test fuel and the pumps for accuracy, water etc. but nobody is protecting the consumer from being ripped off by a dishonest gas station owner. I can gaurantee you it happens. I can tell from tuning different cars and their knock counts. It actually pisses me off.

The best pump gas fuel I have found is Sunoco 94. Seems to be very consistent and has the least amount of knock of any fuel I have tried.

Ive always used Mobil 93 in my 2g and the Evo now.....Once i month i will put in Shell Vpower cause of the additives to help clean it out. I do notice about 15-20miles per tank more with the Shell, but my car feels better according to the Butt Dyno with the Mobil.

I've only used Shell 93 octane in both of my cars. No problems to date.

When I had my car tuned, I had it done on Sunoco 93. Car made good power - but because of this heat around here I am using nothing but Sunoco 94 and I think it does help. I know it helped my brother in his 1g DSM. He wa getting 6-7 knock counts on straight 93.... after pure 94 the count was down to 0-3.

+1

diluted gas is huge problem. Thats why I not only stick with shell but, I limit myself to only a couple of trusted gas station, I get really paranoid during road trips. I've actually had freinds who have registered some major knock after a bad refill.

What about Exxon? I use that 99% of the times just cuz it's a huge company.

Coming from the expert himself, I'm glad I pay the extra money for Sunoco 94!

Shell v-power

Shell V-power 93 has been the best here in Ohio, But Mobil 1 seeems to be pretty good as well. Gas is like $2.50-$2.61 for premium here right now and every vehicle I own is tuned for premium.
