P0304 code...

So I took my car into the dealer on Wed morning and had the CEL and a noise in the front end looked at. My buddy loaned me his scan tool so I was able to pull the code before I went to the deale. They did a dealer flash and that took care of the CEL. The noise from the front end turned out to be 3 bolts starting to come loose on the driver's side upper control arm. I have never heard of this before but then again I haven't gone through my warr book as of yet. They told me that because my car had over 12k miles ( I have 18k miles ) that it counted as an adjustment and was billable for one hr worth of labor or $100. I later called back and spoke with a mgr in the service department and explained to him that my Evo passed their inspection on June 17th and I bought it on June 18th and it was now July 5th. I asked them if there was anything that they could do about it since it was a safety concern. He was very polite and told me that he would take care of it and it wouldn't cost me a nickel. All was well for 2 days until the CEL came back on. I still have my buddy's and this time it was a P0300! What's going on? I want to start off with Vishnu's stage 0 in the ner future and I read that the updated software will not allow a reflash from our vendors. Can someone confirm or deny if this is true? Thanks in advance.

Dave

Unhappy

I would not have let them re-flash your PCM for a PO304, #4 Spark Plug fouled DTC. The Dealer re-flash is for PO300. Now you will not be able to have anybody esle re-flash your PCM

WORKS is quite capable of reflashing ECUs with both versions of the P0300 dealer flash.

Then you are the only one that I know of that can re-flash after the Dealer.

Turbo trix can also re-flash it, and I highly recommend them.

Let the p0300 madness begin!

Do you get it under constant load (i.e. steady throttle) on the highway around 70-90mph in 5th?

What are the symptoms? Does the car lose power? Does it sound like it's farting? Can you feel the steering wheel shimmy?

If they gave you an 05 reflash update for free, that can't be all bad.
That's if ?

Where did you get your "spark plug fouled" for P0304?? I find that OBD-II code for DTC P0304: is Cylinder 4 Misfire Detected. I've gotten numerous P0300 codes, both P0300 and P0304.

And you WILL be able to have your ECU flashed again. I know Works, TT and Dynoflash can still be done with the Mitsu reflash.

So sad to see another EVO victimized by this P0300 Crap! 34,000 miles, 3 reflashes and 1 tranny later I am STILL getting P0300. EMS is coming soon though!!! I've got too many mods to do the Lemon Law thing.

I just started the car and tilted the steering column. Right at the exact moment I set the column the light came back on. I originally had a not so smooth idle and after the flash it was much smoother and the car made more power. I also noticed the turbo pitch changed as if it's making more boost. I don't have a boost guage installed as of yet. When the P0300 came up my idle changed back to more of a slightly rough idle. Nothing terrible but it's not as smooth as it should be. The car still does feel stronger than before but not quite as strong as the other 2 I drove before the one mine. One was another 03 and the other was a 05 RS which pulled like a raped ape! Until the intercooler was heat soaked anyway. Other than my idle my car runs great and I've getting 20-23mpg mixed driving with a couple triple digit bursts per tank. I'm actually pretty impressed with the mileage on my car. I'm actually getting slightly better gas mileage than my wife's 05 4cyl Galant! Only on her last tank did she get 24mpg.
